GTA IV is the only game I've ever lent to a friend and refused to let him give it back to me. It actually annoys me to have the disc in my home, a constant reminder that I actually paid money for that overrated turd.

I picked two up this afternoon, after reading your post. It is by far some of the worst graphics since Perfect Dark. I know games are more than graphics but these are unbearably bad. Like, first gen xbox bad.

Alright. I played past the opening and it is pretty fun. More vice city than liberty.

Edit: ok, I dig it. Yeah, the graphics are subpar but when I'm throwing RPGs at every passing car and pedestrian, I understand they have to sacrifice quality for quantity.

My one complaint is the achievements. I played for a few hours and got 5 points. Plus, half the achievements require coop; I haven't renewed my gold subscription in awhile.

What does your post have to do with the OP?

I couldn't care less about graphics. The game is fun. I play games to have fun.

I tried playing SR2 and the graphics sucked and controls were clunky. I guess I'll give it another shot.

The thing is, the graphics are sub-par. The controls felt alright to me, driving horrid. But man, it was fun to fuck around for a while. Only thing I didn't exactly like doing was story missions (as in the actual story, the missions were actually fine).

Played last night. Man. I have all guns w/unlimited ammo. I just drive/fly around and blow shit up. It's a great time-waster after youve done all the missions and side stuff. My latest is seeing how long me and my 3 gangbangers can survive with 5 stars and using only melee weapons.

see, I'm the opposite. I just want to play through the story without having to do side activities to "fill up the bar". I want to do those after I finish the game. I don't like racing, don't force me to race.

I know what you mean, I don't think you should be required to do them, but even still, I do like SR2.

SR3 looks awesome. Whenever I play sandbox games, I spend more time screwing around and seeing what I can get away with than actually doing missions. It's nice to see a game that encourages that type of gameplay.

yeah, i do that too, but if it's too sand-boxy, then I get bored after a bit, usually because you end up doing the same type of crap over and over. I like decent mix of sandbox and story.

one of the things I dislike about SR2 is the "now you see it, now you don't" car mechanic.

I stand at a corner looking around for a car, see one and look around to see a better car. Turnaround? Car is gone. poof.

That's in pretty much every sandbox game ever made. All GTA games have done that, LA Noire does it, pretty sure mafia 2 did it. LA Noire was the worst though, and it sucked cause one of the achievements was the drive every car and some were really rare. You could be standing right next to it and it would disappear.

In a lot of games, you can just tilt the camera straight down to the street and drive and no cars will spawn because you're not looking at them.

Related: I fucking HATE it when a game refuses to spawn cars because you're on foot. That pisses me off to no end.

GTA4 did the best with it. I was never without a car. SR2? It is like all the cars have been sucked up by aliens. I'm at the freaking airport and there are no cars but tons of cars sounds.

Went and picked up SR2 today. Have it on PC, but tried to play it last night and it is god awful on there. So time to get my fix before 3!

I've tried playing most of the GTA and SR games, Crackdown, and The Godfather, and didn't like any of them at all (except for beating people up in The Godfather). The only sandbox games I've enjoyed have been the inFamous titles.

I'm about 80% finished with sr2. Been playing it over the last week. I love it, one of my top ten of the last 5 years.

Don't be put off by the graphics or the driving, both get better further in the game.

EDIT: just finished it. What a great week. If you like SR2, check out Godfather 2. Another great one was Scarface on the PC; excellent story and you can crank the graphics up.

SR2 on the PC is horrid. I have it for the 360 but got it on the PC because the d/l was fairly cheap and it runs soooooo freaking bad. I dont think there is a PC that will play this thing smooth with everything cranked to max. Reminds me how bad GH3 was for the PC. Great game tho.

I could never get into Saints Row 2. The driving mechanics feel like shit compared to GTA4. It also has probably the worst dialog of any game I've ever played.
