Safe to eat?

Buy frozen chicken entrée, forget and leave at room temperature for 16 hours. Microwave and eat or risk of food poisoning? Think I'll toss it.

Yes, but wash it first.

Seriously though, the chicken is cooked. If you don't smell anything funny, should be good to eat. Takes a while for it to thaw, so you're good to go.

Oh, in case you do die, can I have your stuff?

That would be an oddly high room temperature. If it was truly frozen it would have stayed cold for hours. Is it safe yes (if fully cooked to begin with), would I eat it though no. Then again I wouldn't have bought a frozen chicken entrée so there is that...

They probably had it stored at less than ideal temperatures for weeks or more before it got to the store.

Like a TV dinner? 3 hours maybe.

could be one of these '1 lb of food' type things

It was frozen, so it was still cold for some hours. I went ahead and ate it, as it still seemed in good shape, and so far so good. It was a Stouffer's frozen meal.

It wouldn't be worth even a very small chance of food poisoning, but went ahead.

On the other hand, I bought a fresh-made, uncooked chicken dish, Parmesan Chicken in Creamy Sage Sauce and did something similar, and that is getting tossed.

Pic of the latter:
