Been priming for half an hour @ 2.88ghz w/1.42v, sweet. This is one beautiful chip. I'll be sure to post some verification once I break the 3ghz club. I can feel it this time 😉

Ahh, the 3ghz club. It's about damn time.

My CAB2E seems to bomb out of prime95 real quick at around 2875. Runs just dandy at 2732 for the past 2 days. Kinda was hopeing for at least 2.8 but you can't always get what you want.

Hey, does anyone know about the stepping: CAB2E 0545MPMW? On an Opteron 144.
I just recently got this stepping, but I won't be building my rig until around christmas time.
Anyone know how good it overclocks?

Thanks

Hola folks,

Thought Id share mine
I just took out my 3000 and installed my 148
Ran it at 2.8 right away and it wouldnt go higher so I burned it with Sandra 500 times overnight and she did 2.9 on air this morning.
I think she will do 3.0 on air with some effort

The details:

CPU/Stepping: Opteron 148 CAB2E
Max Stable OC: 2.9ghz
Voltage: 1.5 (1.48)
Stability Test: super pi, COD I
Mobo: aBit AN8 Ultra
PSU: Antec Phantom
Memory: 2xiG Mushkin extreme set to Auto
Cooling: Arctic cooler
Case/Case Cooling: Antec P180 with 4-120s
Ambient room temp: cold
CPU Idle/Load temps: 15C/32C

Here's my CAB2E 0540 FPMW, 2.975GHZ@1.39V

Temps
Vcore

This chip is performing pretty well. My other two CABYE 0540 chips would only pass OCCT up to 2.8-2.85 on stock volts. I tried at 3.0GHz but I think it failed because my ram wouldn't go that high. I'll retest with a bigger divider.

I know this is late, but I received one of those a few days ago, and mine does 2.85ghz prime stable @ 1.5v, which is awesome.

Also, I updated the OP a little.
Many of you are posting results, but are not formatting it correctly or giving me an adequate amount of information. See OP on first page for example format and expected info.

If you don't see your results there, that is why. I'll add them once changes are made.

Nice work. I am a true believer of CAB2E 0546 FPMW.
I googled the stepping and found almost everyone looking for this stepping. We got lucky didn?t we? Mwave was selling same stepping a month ago and no one knew about how good this was until results were posted. Table turned, CABYE and CABNE are now bowing to CAB2E.

Here are the specs you requested Avalon. Sorry I forgot them in my last post.

CPU/Stepping: Opteron 146 CAB2E 0540 FPMW
Max Stable OC: 2.975ghz @ 297.5HTT
Voltage: 1.39v
Stability Test: OCCT
Mobo: DFI NF4 Ultra-D
PSU: OCZ 520W Powerstream
Memory: 2x1024 G.Skill HZ sticks, 3-4-4-8, running at 247MHz w/ 166 divider
Cooling: Custom H20
Case/Case Cooling: Ultra Dragon/ 3 120mm Sanyo Denki's and 2 80mm fans
Ambient room temp: 70F
CPU Idle/Load temps: 23C/36C

Links to screenshots are in my post above.

This chip is also Prime stable at 2.95GHz@1.408V and OCCT stable at 3.05GHz@1.44V. Not sure which results you want to include but I can get screenshots for any of them.

My newest cpu:

146 CAB2E 0546 UPMW

2800 MHz @ 1.525v actual ----> OCCT and SuperPi32m

Not as good as my prior 146's, but it works for me. This cpu is at the point of diminishing returns, every step up in MHz requires a voltage bump. My personal limits have been met (<1.55v actual and <50C max temp) so this is where it stops....

800 MHz gain ain't too bad for a $177 cpu. Marginally better than an OC'd SD 3700, and equal to a $1000 stock FX-57 😉

m 🙂

My results, so far.

CPU/Stepping: Opteron 148 CAB2E 0545MPMW purchased from Dave G. at Flickerdown
Max Stable OC: 2860mgz @ 260HTT
Voltage: 1.55v
Stability Test: Prime95 for a couple hours.
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-K8NSC-939 NF3-250GB 939 PSU: PCP&C-510
Memory: 2x1GIG OCZ D500 @ 195mhz
Cooling: Zalman CNPS-9500 @ full RPM
Case/Case Cooling: Older Antec case, lotsa fans.
Ambient room temp: 72F
CPU Idle/Load temps: 26C/36C

Keep in mind I am fairly clueless. 260 x 11 with the memory at 195 seems to be the only setting I can get the damn motherboard to look for the drives. It just stops after the mem test & all.

I am quite blown away by how cool this baby runs even after running Prime95 for a couple hours. Open to suggestions but 2860 seems like a very high number to me.

regards
Joe S.

My 146 CAB2E 0546 FPAW arrived today-- Tiger Direct. It's sitting here in it's pretty box right now.

My motherboard hasn't come yet. Will post late tomorrow.

I've been googling for awhile, though. It seems like a 2.8g chip on low volts to me-- but usually tops out well before 3g. If I get 2.6 I'll be satisfied, but 2.8 would make me happy.

Oh, and a few posters I've seen mention that the CAB2E's have the 'cold bug' but are good on air.

When did you order from TD? CAB2E is certainly better than the CACJE 0551s around... i've seen some of the 0546 FPAW and GPAWs doing quite well.

Ordered Sunday, 2-day shipping. It came today.

It's weird becaue I can't find many people saying they have the 0546 FPAW. Makes me wonder if it will be good or a dud. I've seen people claim both-- maybe a few more claim that it's a good one. Crossing my fingers 🙂

Cool. I ordered 4 146 OEMs from TD on sunday night. Got the last 4 they had in stock, the last one was backordered and then a day later they shipped it. My other 3 shipped monday. Hoping for 0546s.
