1.4? That voltage is way too low 🙂. 1.55 for single cores.

I've tried every voltage up to 1.65v with no luck at 3GHz!

I honestly can't remember anymore :X
But Tankguys has said I am getting another CAB2E, and the few CABYEs are going out to other pre-orderers 🙁
 
I am now prime stable at 2.8GHz @1.425v. I had to reflash the BIOS, overwriting all three segments, and clearing the CMOS. Then I re-set the appropriate options by hand and I'm good to go! I still can't get 3GHz to Prime, but I'm not giving up! Overall, I am really happy with the CAB2E 146 I got.
 
I seem to have hit a wall with my cab2e. 2.7ghz will prime just fine at 1.425volts. I can boot into windows at 3ghz, but prime gets an error immidiately. No matter how much voltage I give it (all the way up to 1.625) it doesn't want to budge over 2.7. Any suggestions?
 
I have a 175 at 2.7ghz stable on a Scythe ninja and 120mm low rpm fan. Great cpu, it's my first *excellent* overclocking one. I love how fast the dual core feels with regards to general usage.

FPMW. My buddy got one too and he's currently priming at 2.8 at 1.35v.
 
Just picked up a brand new sealed box 146 CAB2E 0540 FPMW off of Ebay for $235 shipped after coupon. Looks like my CABYE 0540 FPMW is headed to Ebay. It's running 2900 MHz on 1.36v (cpuz), simply outstanding. So far I've owned 3 CABYE, with the CAB2E on the way:

Bought retail CABYE 0536 GPMW for $217 shipped and sold on Ebay for $300<----blah....MaxTCase = 57C
Bought retail CABYE 0540 FPAW for $174 shipped and sold on Ebay for $350<----just a whisker behind the FPMW...MaxTCase = 61C
Bought retail CABYE 0540 FPMW for $217 shipped and will sell on Ebay for $????<----best of the bunch 😉...MaxTCase = 63C

It's been all luck. Short story, AMD simply released too much raw power to the general public , realised it, and put a stop to it. There are still a few straggler Opteron deals out there. I am just capitalizing on that fact that they are going to be very hard to find but in high demand...

I'm just very happy I got in on one before they were all gone! Of course, I'd be happier if my CAB2E 0540 would be stable at 3GHz, but I'll take 2.9.
 
Since you guys seem to know what you are doing, this will be my first overclock attempt, what would be the "easiest" overclock to get some decent performance with these parts:

dfi LP NF4 SLI DR
148 CAB2E
Ram????
OCZ PS 520
xp90 w/panaflo

I have a 146 CABYE that is hitting 2900 MHz on stock volts. My 2GBZX is running DDR527 @ 2.8v @ 3-3-2-5-1T.

The ram and cpu combination has been a dream for me, one of the easiest overclocks I've ever experienced. Come back for help on setup, you should be flying in no time 😛
 
Man, I have such bad luck with opterons. In my quest to get a better chip, I bought an OEM from Monarch and got a CABGE 0536VPAW, the worst possible stepping in existence! This thing does like 2700mhz at 1.6v, haha.
 
ok, so that g skill stuff looks pretty good for the money. So with that setup would i be likely to get around FX speeds out of the cpu without much trouble (what im looking to get, around 2.8-2.9ghz stock)?

also is the OCZ powerstream PSU worth the extra 40$ over the antec truepower equivalent?
