It looked cool when it was supposedly imminent a few years ago. Now all we have to wait for is Duke Nukem Forever.

I'm not holding my breath on it being any better then Quake 4,Prey,ect. I am guessing it will be fair at most.

Every game is mix of art and technology... I'm skeptic that S.T.. will lack the art part.

Tonight, Flock--speaking to a crowd of about 100 journalists--said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. will "ship in March," and online retailers are listing it as having a March 20 release

OMG I can't wait.. :D

Anyway, hope this thing is good. Would be nice if they had a demo out for all of us to try.

Hopefully... someone with "lower moral standards" will "happen upon" a cd that just might be a game that "closely resembles S.T.A.L.K.E.R." and just happen to "show some friends."

I played the BETA, it was decent. I think the game is going to be more single-player driven than multi-player driven.

Yeah, I just spoke with someone who's playing the MP Beta. And unfortunately, he's totally unimpressed. Mind you, MP is a different game, he indicates textures are nothing special, environment is drab. I was pretty dissappointed to hear this obviously. But people said PREY kind of sucked when it first came out and I thought it was a hoot. So obviously opinions can't always be trusted. Problem is..... I trust this guy's opinion :frown:

Wasn't the big 'hype' about Stalker the gameplay? Like the realism and way you can interact with the environment rather than stunning graphics? I'll have to wait for a demo or a few reviews before I drop $50+. I've got a stack of games I paid retail for that are collecting dust right now.

Well yeah, that's the problem too. They took all that out. All of the RPG guys are gonna be crying because they removed the "hunger" - must find food thing, the exposure to radiation (drinking vodka was the response for this one I think?), and then the aspect of "trading" with others and updating your weapons, and lastly the day/night sleep cycle. I'm not sure if they got rid of the day/night thing, but I think the sleeping is gone. I like day/night cycle games - a la GTA 3 and a little HL2...

I hope they still left some of the unique stuff in it because if this is just another FPS it's not going to fare well. These days of FPS is getting, 'been there, done that'.

Crap. 'Looks' good in terms of concept/play, but literally looks crappy due to the smear effect. It's the Unreal 3 engine isn't it? Hated the blur/vaseline vision used in Rainbow 6: Vegas...

Yeah, the graphics would've been the ****** two years ago. Now, it just looks like "We took enough time just get the job done." I wish devs/publishers would just give us a singe-player demo instead of a half-assed MP Beta. I remember the FEAR Beta, boring. Definitely wasn't worth the four hours it took to DL it.

I always doubt games with long development cycles, particularly ones that come from developers that haven't released anything big in the past.

They removed sleeping but I don't think anything else you said is true. There was a recent little message by one of the developers which confirmed vehicles, hunger, and the advanced AI system all being in, and I read nothing to suggest that radiation or trading have been cut. Not to mention that you can see recent trailers with the day/night cycle...

I wasn't impressed with the mutiplayer beta. I personally think it looked like crap- very disappointing.
