I have pre-ordered this game which is being released in less then a week .

Anybody else looking forward to this game?

Completely forgot this is coming out. Damn. Just upgraded my computer, but not the GPU yet. Better run out and get a 5850 or 5770...

I should replay Clear Sky while I'm at it.

I didn't like the first one but someone pointed me to the Complete mod which made it much better but I still have to finish DA:O before I move onto anything else. Too much stuff has come out recently.

Definatly looking forward to this. S.T.A.L.K.E.R Soc was an awesome game. Perhaps I should play Clear Skys first though, but I heard it was a disappointment compared to Shadow of Chernobyl?

I found Clear Sky not as good as the first one,hopefully Call of Pripyat will live up to expectations .

Sorry. Not gonna happen. Call of Pripjat is even shorter than Clear Sky. It's more of an expansion. The story is well done and quite interesting, HOWEVER, the option to continue the game after you finish the storyline is useless unless you missed some quests. My biggest complaint is that the best weapon upgrades become available only in the end of the game, which doesn't let you "enjoy" them enough. Some of the weapon upgrades are extremely cool though, such as full auto or 3 round burst on handguns...

I'll get CoP for sure, but I do think that GSC really needs to ditch out X-Ray for a better engine, an existing one instead of taking five years to create a new one from scratch and make a "proper" sequel with that, STALKER 2 or 3, probably "3", since CoP should technically be considered the sequel to SoC, while Clear Sky is a prequel... so... but anyway, whatever the title is, I think that SoC has yet to receive its proper sequel, from what I've seen of CoP it's indeed more similar to an expansion pack than anything else.

Shorter? Damn.

The biggest pisser of Clear Sky was the screwy Faction Wars that never ended, and never worked right. Getting the best weapons near the end was mildly annoying; I only got to play with my machine gun for a short time.

I remember now that this came out in Ukraine last Fall, but they delayed the North American/Europe release until now, which stirred some shit.

Well, COP is still not bad. In fact it's pretty good. It's just that it should cost something like $20 tops. I personally liked just about everythign about Clear Sky. Yes, it was buggy as hell, and I wasnt a fan of FW and instanades, but I got used to it pretty fast, and I even used the FW spawns to my advantage to get rich. ; ) I bet the game is now much better beacuse of all the patches and mods. Also, I was talking about the Russian version in my post above.. What if the American release gets and "upgrade"?

I haven't looked yet, but IIRC, I had to look for a week to find Clear Sky. Hoping Steam releases it soon.

It's already released apparently. Kind of a quiet one. Weird.

And Tristicus, if you like shooters, you are missing some of the most immersive games you've ever played. The sense of dread, desolation, the atmosphere, all top notch.

Got my copy at Target today. Haven't seen it at any other retailers.

Also, if anyone else has gotten the Collector's Edition, did the DVD case actually have a cover? It just looks kinda bootleg when you take the case out of the cardboard sleeve it comes in.
