I'd trust them is I was in the hunt for a 3950x.

Looking at the bundle with the Kraken X62 it's showing as available on the 4th. If you then click the Kraken link from the bundle it's in stock. My conclusion is they're getting 3950x stock on the 4th which would explain the ships in 1-2 days.
I have the EVGA 280mm, almost identical to the x62, but I trust EVGA more than most companies, every good luck with their products. I have an x570 TUF gaming that housed a 3900x for a nit, then I transferred that to an x370 Taichi, so its now an open case. I stole the PSU for another system also as well as the NBME drive, so all those are one the way also,

Looking at the the 3950x in my Orders, it doesn't show as shipped on Amazon, but it does say Arriving Jan 4 - 8. Obviously, it'll be on the farther down the road of that estimation being that today's the 3rd, but yeah, It's probably a pretty good guess that they are getting a huge batch on the 4th and they're pre-selling it.

I'm not fussed. Glad to have one for the ~750 instead of someone's marked up sale.

Hmmm, they're still available too. Decisions, decisions - I didn't plan on upgrading until the summer at the earliest and was going to likely wait for Zen 3, but..... :)

Well, I trust Amazon. They say it will ARRIVE Jan 4-8. I guess I never noticed that it would ship in 1-2 days, but close enough for me. Not next week, or next month or whatever....

My 3950X arrived at least 5 days later than Amazon said it would when I ordered one in December. They oversold and had to wait for multiple deliveries from AMD to fill the orders.

You think they would make the same mistake twice in a month ? Anyway, as I said, I will wait until tomorrow night to get upset.

Oh well... the 3950X had a pretty good long run - about 6 weeks. In CPU time that's like forever.

I've gone almost totally AMD for cpu's now. 3950X coming in Wednesday and currently have 3900X running on a X370 board. Grabbed a X570 Taichi for the 3950X. Bye bye Intel 9900KF. I'm glad the drought ended.

Not sure what you mean... As another posted said, it back in stock, available now for $799.99. Except there is a little note in fine print:

Back-Ordered
Expected availability: Jan 10, 2020

Good to see they are actually shipping product. Amazon has a bad habit of overselling stuff that's in high demand. Not sure if that's deliberate, or an inventory-control problem.

I was poking fun at their email message about the 3950X extinction event:

"We regret to inform you that this item has unfortunately been discontinued. Please check back on our website for similar or possible replacement items. "

My sarcasm meter must be broken, sorry. Yea, thats odd, they discontinue it, now its backordered with an available date, and on pre-order. (for an inflated price)

No worries. You don't need a meter for my posts. If I type something on the internet, it's either sarcastic or stupid. Or both. ;-)

OK, very odd to me. Shipped from Carlyle, PA, currently in Louisville, KY... Still on tract for Tuesday.

A would have thought it was coming from California !

If you mean Carlisle, there's an Amazon warehouse there.

Edit: May have been where closest stock was located.

Yup. I just thought that the first after a drought would have been from CA, since they are made in China or Taiwan.
I was wondering if final assembly was in US or overseas since the IO dies are US (I think).

It says
Diffused in USA
Diffused in Taiwan
Made in China

Can somebody more technical translate that into english ?

I found something that may make more sense: From an AMD chip
Diffused in Germany
Made in Malaysia

"In this case, AMD makes its wafers in Germany (at Global Foundries in Dresden). The wafers are sent to Malaysia to be cut up and made into CPUs. "

So maybe the Chiplets are made in Taiwan, the IO chip made in the US and the parts assembled in China ??

Well shoot, the lure of the 3950X just sitting there in stock at MSRP for over 24 hours finally got the best of me. So now I have a 3900X sitting here and a 3950X on the way. I knew I was going to be running an ASRock Aqua in my main pc from the get go, so I've not really looked into other boards too much. What boards should I be looking at for the 3900X? So far I'm most interested in the Asus X570 TUF and the Asus Prime X570-Pro. Any reason to go with one over the other?

So excited to start my build today. H150i pro and 750D Airflow case finally arrived today. Start the build by putting SSD’s in, then RAM, all good. Start to unpack the beast 3950x. Plastic inside is cracked and CPU has bent pins. Best Buy doesn’t have any in stock or online. Hopefully Amazon will deliver by the 7th like they say on their website.

If you are very careful, using a razor blade or something very pliant, try and straighten them. You have the picture, its a warranty problem, but maybe you can save this. They will bent back once probably. I have done this many times.

It may save your build. Just go slow and easy......Its only 3 pins, right ?

Thought about that, I did that 2 builds ago but didn’t want to risk it. Already returned and waiting on Amazon. I don’t want to take the chance of issues and having to repair later.

Best Buy has no objections to the return.
