I got an email update that they have a 3950X in stock. (their website doesn't say that)
So my 12/26 date changed to 12/9 :) fingers crossed

Didn't expect having to hurry for my other parts, haven't decided on memory and case/fans yet, CPU cooler can also change.

I got an email from newegg that the 3950x was back in stock. I had it in my cart, but couldn't get my password right the first 2 times. By the time I was logged in, it was taken out of my cart.

CRAP !!!!

That's why my password is always "password". It prevents me from mistyping it. ;)

Look at the positive side of it, you just saved $800. :p

Looks like the UK stock situation with the 3900X is starting to stabilize a little now - a few sites even seem to have enough stock to do Cyber Monday offers on the chip. Good luck finding anywhere that'll give you an ETA on the 3950X this side of the new year, though.

Go post in the Ryzen 3000 builder's thread (or read therein) if you want some advice. Micron e-die is a good budget choice. If you want a ton of RAM, i'd point you towards Samsung M-die (32GB DIMMs). If you want to push performance, try 8 GB Samsung b-die DIMMs. I'm not sold on 16GB b-die DIMMs being a good deal right now.

FYI A few have 3 of the 3950X in stock, but they ask 899 Euro instead of 829 Euro

edit: I received mine on 9 Dec (Europe)

Yesterday, I received the notification that the 3950X was in stock at bestbuy's web page. I added the 3950X to my cart and couldn't log in then get through checkout fast enough before they were all sold out. It showed up as in stock at 1:59 PM and was sold out by 2:01 PM.

I couldn't bring myself to order a 3950x so I settled for the 3900x which should be here next week.

I'm not sure if a 3900X would be enough of an upgrade. The 3800X at 4.1+ GHz saves me about 30-40 seconds on encoding a ~9 minute 4K video over the i7-6700K in Adobe Premiere. Adobe has been getting better at multi-threading with recent updates, but 8 cores and 16 threads at 4.1 GHz isn't much faster than the 6700K with the iGPU to assist in encoding. If the supply issues with the 3950X continue, I may end up buying a 9900K even though its a dead end platform. Socket AM4 still has the likely possibility of another generation of Ryzen processors next year for upgrades and PCIE Gen 4.

What is your logic here? The 3900x is a 12 core cpu and the 9900K an 8 core. On top of that you can likely slot in a 16 core ryzen 4 cpu 18 months from now whereas that 8 core 9900k is a dead end.

I have a buyer lined up for my 6700K system, but they won't wait forever. Most retailers already raised 3900X prices to $550-$600+ because of the increased demand due to the low 3950X supply. Amazon had the 3900X at $629 before their supply ran out. I'm not paying over retail for a 3900X if I'd possibly be selling the 3900X in 3 to 6 months if AMD fixes the 3950X Supply issue in a timely manner. If the 3950X supply issues continued for a while, the 9900K or KS was going to be my choice just because it can do games and H.264 encoding just as well as a 3900 or 3950X and I don't feel like waiting until next year to buy a 3950X if the supply issues continued then hope to find a buyer for my system without the hassle of parting it out. We waited 2 extra months so AMD could ensure adequate supply for launch, and all the major retailers sold out in 2 minutes on launch day. If 2 months of building up supply lasted 2 minutes and the occasional small follow up shipment that sells out before the in stock notification and emails arrive, then I'm not optimistic about the 3950X supply for the next few months.

Its all moot now. I just happened to get lucky and refresh the 3950X page on Amazon when taking a break from watching a movie a little while ago. It was in stock and I was able to order one. 30 seconds later it was out of stock again.

I'm still running a 5 year old 4790k so this thing will be da bomb in comparison. :D

And he is missing the key the 3800x is barely faster than the 6700k with quick sync. That basically means that quick sync is worth 4c. So a 3900 should be sufficiently faster with an additional 4c or a 3950x with twice the cores.

3900X in stock and discounted at Microcenter. Currently $459 if you bundle with a motherboard.

I’m 15 minutes from a Microcenter. Looks like I can clear $80 each on the CPUs on eBay.

Amazon has it for retail $500 in stock. I don't think Phynaz will be able to sell one for a profit anyway (unless he is just trolling). Newegg has it for $530 free shipping..

Amazon said my 3950X would be here by today(The 15th) when I ordered the 3950X on the 5th. Amazon took pre-orders on the 5th for a very short time for the 3950X CPUs their next expected shipment. So far, Amazon hasn't received any more 3950X CPUs so I still don't have mine.

Maybe I should have gone with the 9900KS when I had a chance to pick one up at MSRP.

The 3950x will be in better supply by Jan. Since you preordered, I would guess you may get it soon. Be patient, you will not be sorry.

Or you can sell it to me when it shows up :)
