Since I can't get i3 10100F and Ryzen 3 3300x I decided let me impulse make a decision:rolleyes:
I am going with AMD Ryzen 5 3500X However I can't seems to find much of a information on it.
I know it is in compatible list of CPU on MSi TomaHawk B350 or B450 AORUS PRO WIFI motherboards
According to AliExpress it 6 Core CPU without SMT/Hyperthreading and lower base core and boost speed. Which is yielding to lower CPU TDP 65Watts only.
Other then that is very similar to Ryzen 5 3600X.
However it is not mentioned on AMD website!
Anybody would like to share their thoughts on this ?

Heya,

I think it's an exclusive (or meant to be) to the Asian market. Lots of products do this.

If you're in the USA, it doesn't make much sense to pay $125+ for a 6 core CPU in my opinion when you can get so much for a touch more cost, yielding 8 threads or 16 threads, etc. But I realize "in stock" is the big issue here really.

Very best,

It’s tempting to pick this up over the 3600 / 10400 but do not do it. It only has 6cores so it’s pretty much DOA when 2021 is just around the corner.

Dang it..........
I already did it..........
But lets discuss any way............
I can't seems to get any thing decent for $125.
For some reasons, I have notice newer CPU/GPU is no where to be found.
I am getting this for my son. Who play 98 % games 2 % school (Hi-School)
I know it is useless for me because I do run virtual machines, where sometimes I need 16 vCPU ....
I am going give my son TomaHawk B350 MB, 16 GB, with his 1080 Ti he should be alright
Right now he is struggling with i3-8100

Depending on a person's PC use of course. A 6 core (12 thread) CPU will be perfectly fine for the vast majority of desktop users out there (including myself). I no longer buy or play demanding AAA games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, or anything that needs moar cores! ;)

If it's mostly for gaming, then it will be fine. If you look at benchmarks, it's pretty closet to the 3600x in most games. Not enough to fuss over likely.

I had an i3-8100 for my young Daughter and it was on the struggle bus more than I ever thought it would be, given that it was an i5 of the previous gen (essentially).

A drop in Microcenter 9700k took care of that :p

The 8100 is now living the good life as an Untangle router, which it is exceptional at.

I think the 3500x will be viable as long as the multitude of six core i5 Intel CPUs are viable, which is unknown but obviously four cores is deficient today.

I had no idea this CPU existed, thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

Silly Question.
What are the chances, it is a FAKE inhouse china CPU...... ? (Trump talking)
Like rigging the CPU id stuff and performance of Athlon ?
or Am I getting little paranoia

Why would they fake a midrange processor? If you're going to fake it, make it more profitable.

Odds are low.

$125 is basically MSRP for this thing.

If it were fake, it would be much cheaper (too good to be true) or it would be a higher profile chip for a good price (also too good to be true).

Also, where's the precedence of fake CPU bait and switching on AMD processors?

Right, I don't think this an eBay special "non branded" GTX 1050ti for $35 bucks that's really some lower end card with weird stuff done to it.

I mean, importing is always a bit of a risk but this seems pretty legit to me.

(You're being paranoid :p )

It's once released as OEM only CPU, then somebody decided to put retail packaging on it.
Plenty of 3500X stock around SEA market I can say. But initially it's China exclusive.

3500X review by TechSpot.

That's exactly what I said.

You think 6 core / 12 thread CPUs are "DOA" in 2021. I disagree with that broad proclamation. ;)

What? 3500X only has 6 cores, no additional threads. It’s not a 3600 with 6 cores / 12 threads. If you haven’t noticed I have a 5600X so why would I think a 6 core / 12 thread CPU be dead in 2021?

I am using 2700 I still don't it has use full life 2 year.
Its is really true 3500X and only thing is short of is Multithreading and little bit lower base core and boost speed, I think it can easily last 3 years. Zen 2 is very efficient platform.
If I was able to get 3300X for 4 core for $95 and 3500X 6 core for $120, I think it is right price ? No ?
I am having a trust issue on that CPU, because I never bought any CPU directly from China
I will share my findings, once I get it.
Thanks

Why only thing is missing Hyperthreading /SMT
Are multithread is that much important in Games ?
BTW I am in Canada
I am also in Canada and I think that cpu will be OK for now.

If he was going to a 450/470 board or 550/570 board I would wait and get a 3600 or a 5600x when in stock.

I think it will be fine, and frankly with the various shortages causing some products (including 4-core APUs) to have the prices jump up considerably, getting this for $125 isn't a bad deal by any means.

AMD's SMT is a little better than Intel's implementation but there are a lot of applications where the lack of 6 additional threads is negligible. If it's 98% gaming, it won't matter. AT just put out an article investigating SMT and it really doesn't matter for gaming: https://www.anandtech.com/show/1626...-multithreading-on-zen-3-and-amd-ryzen-5000/3

Honestly, that's a GREAT price, and performance shouldn't be TOO far off of a 3600.

Considering that I just paid $229 + $3 for a real 3600 from Newegg (cheapest price that I could find for a Ryzen Zen2 6-core), I would have rather paid $125 for a 3500X, all things considered, although I no longer order CPUs from China-sellers (if I ever did).

I think it costs more to buy one of the Zen 2 quad-cores with SMT since those have generally seen the prices go up over the past few months, so you're getting 2 more physical cores for a lower cost. It's actually a pretty good deal after checking prices on Newegg and other sites.

I would factor what the full cost of, international shipping and import duties, etc... Ever use Aliexpress before?

Vs just buying a 3600 or i3-10100 in country with free shipping, and much less hassle if something goes wrong.
