Has anyone found a good review comparing the 3600 with the 3600x , OC ,PBO etc? trying to figure out if the ~$75 AUD is worth it.

That's really good news! Might get a PCIe4.0 NVME drive for my Strix B450-I in the future. The lack of support for the x16 slot doesn't bother me (this board uses a splitter to provide lanes to the second M2 slot).

I literally just saved up and built :

Nforce s939 (Epox?)
Athlon X2 4400+ (Toledo I think)
X1950XT (256mb?)
Thermalright Copper HSF etc9500
4x1GB DDR400 CL2
DVDRW (wooohoooo lol)
SB Audigy something with front panel
Lian Li aluminum case
Antec 500W PSU (this lasted like 15 years!)
Some SATA HDD and a couple of IDE drives, don't recall details
Windows XP of course

And blammo, Conroe made it look kind of dumpy shortly thereafter. It was my shop PC though, so it was pretty easy to resell, it looked awesome for the time.

I still run an Antec 430W "earthwatts" PS, (2009), took it out about a month ago, did a complete cleaning and inspection, no bulging caps or other issues. Still using an E5450@3.9Ghz but I think the Ryzen 5 1600 at a stupid price of $100 is going to finally have me upgrade.

And for ~$125 AUD more than the 3600x, you can get the 3700x, which gives you 2 extra cores.

Guess that they needed some time to tests the MBs that could do it, hence why they back tracked on the compatibilty..

Depends on the definition of "they". A blanket suggestion of PCIe 4 working on older boards was never going to work. As we can see with the ASUS Strix boards any use of PCIe 3 switches will prevent PCIe 4 to work. By AMD withdrawing the promise for PCIe 4 compatibility for older boards but keeping open the possibility for board manufacturers the latter now can give detailed lists what works where if they want, like ASUS just did. Gigabyte indicated that's going to happen even before the launch.

good selection of test, the only thing that seems not right is the 9900K scores- because even the cinebench r20 is too low in 4300 level not in 4800-4900 level

Someone asked why people wouldn't see them as real world and I gave the most obvious answer on why that would happen,how does that become a excuse?
I even stated that "if it fits in the cache it gets a huge boost that is still real and going to impact performance"
What exactly forces you to defend your beloved ryzens even from positive comments?

It's a nice thought, but it isn't likely to happen. Summit Ridge got tested with DDR4-2133 many times, and some of those results are STILL out there. Only update is that re-testing done when the 2700x came out often had Summit Ridge with faster RAM (usually DDR4-2933).

Fallout 76 is the newest game that uses the Creation engine.

Fallout 4 still likely has more people playing it.

I am the author. I cannot hit that 4800~4900 range without ASUS' MultiCore Enhancement, which as far as I'm aware goes outside of Intel's spec to overclock the CPU.

I have similar charts I've made myself. Not as comprehensive, though.

The takeaway: Get the 3900X if you do any actual work on your computer. Get the 3600 (not shown in the chart) to game on as it's an amazing value and still does content fairly well.
