I'm not going to elaborate on specifics, but almost all of you have no fucking clue about sub detection, treaties, foreign policies on submarines, etc.

You know how most people get mocked for being armchair generals or quarterbacks? Most of you look really stupid in believing that they went undetected. Also since there isn't really a source, how can you all even believe this story is legitimate and not politically driven?

Wow, so lucky are we to have the most informed man on the internets around. "I'm not going to elaborate on specifics" ="I'm talking out of my ass"

That's nothing compared to the Chinese sub that has been in Lake Michigan undetected for over two years.

As long as it wasn't within twelve miles of the coast than it wasn't doing anything wrong, I believe.

Yep. You got me. Complete dumbass. It not like there is any DOD guidelines on public forums.

The Navy is not going to alert the media that a Russian sub was in the gulf. That is a fact. There is no benefit of doing such. To think that we do not have sonar buoys that could detect this, all over the gulf, is preposterous. You guys are severely giving the Russians to much credit.

More than likely, "friend or foe" detected the sub, determined hull shape (tells you everything) and density, and followed it passively throughout the gulf.

I know about the sonar buoys, there made close to where I live and yea, if the Navy had a problem detecting Russian subs close to our shores I don't think they would say a think to anyone and just try to fix the problem..
