Why do you think they did that (acquired and released those emails) if it had no effect?

Even if by some miracle he admits they did it because it's effective, as abundantly illustrated through various members here who use it as evidence of "both sides", it's ultimately futile because he only cares that his side won. IOW, it's a disingenuous argument created for his sort to parrot, not unlike the christian right who're programmed to talk morality all day, yet mostly still feel aligned with Trump anyway.

Murica...WTF are you gonna do about it?
...oh yeah, that's right...cry about it for a minute. *clap

Do you understand the difference between rigging and influencing?
Rigging to influence. But in the world of fake news and fake birth certificates...who cares?

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone provided actual evidence to support the belief that the dnc email leaks had any influence whatsoever? Looks like the Russians tried to influence the elections, just like other parties did and just like we have done numerous times in the past with other countries.

For those who believe this is a major issue, what would you like to have come out of this? War with Russia? Nullify election results? Impeachment for Trump? All the above?
Other than being a good lesson for us that we need to harden our cyber infrastructure to prevent such attacks, I just don't see anything else that can come of it.

Personally I just don't buy the DNC emails being the reason many people who would have voted for Clinton stayed home. I can't speak for others, but the reason I didn't vote for her had nothing to do with those emails.

So why were your sort all about those damning emails until that narrative became inconvenient? Keep in mind not everyone here is dumber than you.

I am fatigued from keeping up with the other thread. This one will be to discuss a different take on this.

It seems that intelligence is quite confident that Russia orchestrated cyber attacks against the US election. This is true independent of any intent or efficacy in undermining a particular candidate or party and changing the votes of the election.

The reaction has been one of divisive partisan politics wherein Americans' main focus is on whether Trump's presidency is legit.

Wake up people. Russia orchestrated an attack on our political system. This is an act of war. In saying so I am not calling for us to declare war on Russia, merely for us to see plainly the aggressive act against the US. Not against Clinton. Not against Democrats. Not against Republicans. Against the US government.

Seeing this as an opportunity to correct an injustice in our election results or otherwise to defend against the notion that the attacks may discredit those results is wrong. We are Americans first. Russia attacked America. America should respond to Russia. When parties respond to each other, even seeing it as an opportunity to discredit each other, we are taking responsibility for Russia's attack. I don't think they could have set it up any better.

Discuss.
See Donald did get something right during the debates when he said the election was rigged.

Being proud of low info stupidity is the crux of the problem here. I would even venture to claim no amount of opportunity at education can fix it.
Guess you're proud to be part of the condescending elite. None the less your new President will be Trump, so get over it and move on. I will love every minute of you pissing and moaning for the next 4 years.

Admit what?

The DNC's emails were obtained and made public during the election cycle, most likely with Russian involvement, in an attempt to influence the election. It happened. Lots of events happened during the election cycle attempting to influence the outcome, some positive for Trump, some positive for Clinton. So now are we all square? Are you ready to move on?

Seriously, like what Double Trouble asked, what do you want to be the outcome?

Are you one who wants the electoral college vote postponed?

Are you one of those who are making threatening phone calls and sending hate mail & death threats to the electoral college voters?

^^ let's talk about this and how this is having influence over the election. You need to start being aware and admitting that is happening too.

When you pick and choose your outrages based on what you personally want to see as the end result, it's called hypocrisy.

While I disagree with the tone of what you quoted, I object to your tone as well.

Conservatives are so giddy at having won that they're not looking squarely at what they've accomplished. They fail to see the astounding insincerity behind the pitches that have influenced their thinking for decades. It's blossoming into full blown mass delusion with the Trump Admin & a Repub Congress.

They're beguiled & will remain that way until truly terrible events unfold, events that threaten to undermine democracy itself.

Meanwhile, Repubs are free to execute the top down class warfare agenda of the right wing plutocracy with a vengeance.

So we all admit that a foreign country thats is inimical to the West is trying to influence elections in many countries?
I think this is a problem and we need to stop arguing about it and try to find a way to mitigate the effects.
You think what? That we just let it happen?

I want us to harden our political processes so they aren't vulnerable to interference. I want our media to be much more vigorous in challenging bullshit.

My end result is to see the electoral process in the West protected, it's not to get the candidate I want.

Hypocrisy not found.

I don't deny that the Russians hacked the DNC and Podesta's email, I don't see where it changed voters minds and cost Hillary the election like many in here are claiming. There is no evidence that the vote was hacked.
A few points. First flipping a voter is as useful as making that voter stay home. Bad news that that reduces enthusiasm and keeps people home is a tool to influence elections. Refer to Republican enthusiasm at the time of the trump nbc tapes . Had the election been held that day he would have lost in a blowout. Not because GOP supporters may flip but rather that they may have just stayed home.

Secondly the margin of victory in key states is razor thin. For many of these states, if these tactics influenced one in 200 or 300 people that would be enough.

Finally the idea that hey I'm too smart or people are too smart to be influenced is really somewhat arrogant. Commercials work right? Marketing puts insane amount of money into commercials in TV, print and etc. The reason they spend this money is people can be influenced. I can't tell you how many times I try a product after thinking about the ad for it I saw earlier in the day. The point is targeted messaging can influence psychology and positions. If you believe you can't be influenced, I suspect you are most susceptible to such strategies because you likely are not even aware of them happening blatantly in front of you.

I've said on many occassions I fully expect the DNC (and the RNC too) to invest in greater security for their email servers. What else do you want?

WelshBloke said:

What was bullshit? DNC emails were obtained and released to the public. That's what we are talking about here. What part of the emails were bullshit?

Look, the media has challenged everything Trump has done. Not a single newspaper endorsed Trump, which I believe is a first in this nation's history. So the question then becomes, why with so much media outlets challenging Trump, why did he win? Why did people not value media? My opinion is, the right labels everyone on the left as free-loaders, and the left labels everyone on the right as racist, bigoted, deplorables. No one has any interest left in caring about "the other side". And that's what opens the door to ignoring others.

Russia likely hacked the DNC emails and made them public. So what? We have bigger problems no one cares about because we're all focused on Russia hacks, we're all focused on petty insults against each other. Life goes on, nothing improves.

Then good. We admitted that the DNC emails were hacked, most likely by the Russians, and released publicly across the internet. We hope that this does not happen again in the future, and expect the parties beef up security in their servers. We recognize that the election still was legit and we begin the next 4 years of a Trump presidency.

Settled.

I'm just explaining how things work, like the nature of Trump's relationship/debt to Putin a la Reagan with Iran, which all involves some brain activity, and it figures that your sort don't want any part of that.

Threads like these are a real testament to the power of the propaganda media. A media that profits from keeping the weak minded in a state of agitation and anxiety. Ah, but it's been said that it takes two to Tango. Obviously needs are being met on both sides of this equation.

Absent any proof that the actual voting process was tampered with, the propaganda media repeatedly gins up their followers by making them believe that the outcome of this election would have been very different if not for those same Russians that the progressive left once adored.

The propaganda media puts forth the narrative that If the inner workings of the DNC had not been exposed Hillary would have run a different campaign. One where her top advisors did not lead her astray. Where she would have come across as a warm and caring individual with a message that had appeal across the political spectrum. Where people actually believed she landed under sniper fire, that she did in fact wipe her server with a cloth and had absolutely nothing to do with that Uranium deal.

If only the truth had not been exposed things would have been very, very different.

Toddler therapy is not working. The coloring books, the play doh, blowing bubbles, none of it is effective when the propaganda media keeps agitating the left in pursuit of profits.

There is a choice. Keep on doing the Tango or decide to do the Happy Dance. Either way, Trump is still going to be the President. Live longer in a happier state of mind or die earlier miserable, the choice is yours.

You are too caught up in your partisan outcome to see the bigger picture.

The outcome needs to be recognition of Russia's threat, how this fits into a larger plan for destabilization of the West, and putting our posture in proper order. They cannot be trusted.

Just what does Putin have planned on a 5-10yr scale?
Recognize how this fits in and is as great a threat to the US as much of the Soviet era was.

There also needs to be punishment against Russia, although it is a very fine line that needs to be walked.

The stupid in this thread. The Republicans have a great racket going. Defund schools, make college un-affordable and deprive people the fundamental education they need to decipher the bullshit they propagate. What's amusing, is that all this doesn't hurt the elitist liberals as you call them (remember they have both education and money). It hurts the very same Republicans who voted for Trump. But ey, I guess you can enjoy watching the pissing and moaning by us elitists as life for you and your neighbors gets more un-affordable.
