It's genuinely amazing that, when talking about NATO expansion, NATO's the only side with any agency. Like Russia's just sat there and watched it happen, instead of being damn near the entire reason NATO is still a thing.

The only time NATO has done anything to threaten Russia has been when Russia has been aggressive with its' neighbours. NATO does not continue to exist to counter Russia specifically, it exists because it is a comprehensive alliance of Democratic states. In time, Russia could even join, if it wants to. It decided to embrace the Past though and here we are.

Big Ali's Saudi Discount Yacht Emporium is about to get in some new stock:

I can't wait for the c. 2028 long-form article > doc series > drama series streamed "event" that details how all of these seized assets from the Oligarch round-up get sold off on the world market.

because you know this info is going to be widely available. And it will be a riot.

Anyway, Godspeed to the Ukrainians.

Trump just wanted to criticize NATO members, it's not like he gives two shits about stable democracies in Europe, he doesn't even care if we have democracy here in the US. It's pretty clear how he felt about NATO, Ukraine, who he tried to extort, and Putin, whom he looks at like a schoolboy with a crush.

Biden is on tape bragging about extorting the Ukraine while his son earns millions from corrupt dealings from Ukraine, Russia, and China. The administration under Biden has been one big dumpster fire and basically invited Putin to invade. Biden also was nice enough to share high level intelligence about Russia with China so it then could be passed along to Russia. The Democrats have spent the last 6-7 years absolutely blaming Russia for the world's problems and then do stupid diplomatic and strategic moves to encourage Putin to act.

I am amazed at the tracked vehicles getting stuck in that mud. The mud didn't look deep enough, but, clearly it's a serious problem.

I'm also willing to entertain that most Russian equipment is not scrupulously and meticulosity maintained to the highest standards as rough conditions would require it be.

I hate to be that guy, but is it at this point that we think about how brilliant those movement and attack penalties in those Cid Mier and other such games were when it comes to how things...tend to happen in wars? Moving through swamps, adding weeks to your planned siege maneuver, the range of your short wave-radio coms. the limited channels, all those things!

I guess all of those rules were designed off of Cold war tech--those early strategy games all mathematically determined that way, then we stopped playing those games because technology and "advanced tactics" in the real world eliminated those terrain effects and strategies, making all of the COld War completely obsolete but you know....

Here come the Russians! making cold war board game strategy rules relevant again! Yay!

Do they pay you to post this drivel? That can be the only reason you constantly purposefully make yourself look like an idiot.

God forbid we sacrifice idling our F150s in school pick up lines to help protect millions of people.
Unfortunately, the sanctions are going to do nothing in stopping Putin and Russia. Either the world decides for boots on the ground or we have to figure out the next steps after the Ukraine is flattened.

And no really convincing argument can really be made when you have 13 countries joining over the last two decades without Russia throwing a hissy fit like is happening in Ukraine. So what took so long for Russia to “feel” threatened? Not like NATO suddenly popped up.
Ukraine has undeveloped gas reserves in the Black Sea is why I'm guessing now it's a big deal...can't have any EU-friendly competition for natural gas...how are Putin and the oligarchs supposed to upgrade their yachts!!!

Because of proximity to Moscow, Latvia and Estonia would be an issue if they went nuclear. The very level terrain of these northern Baltics doesn't make them a much smaller threat if those were to ever have NATO troops build up in large numbers.

If Latvia or Estonia ever went nuclear. Jesus fucking christ....

You might as well make the threat that at some point, Trump will tell the truth.

get the fuck out of here with this inexperienced, unread horseshit.

It seems like that would be a matter of time. There were NATO non-expansion accords already broken, with a trend of greater and greater boldness. What is the point of continually ratcheting the tension this way?

utter horseshit

NATO - An organization consisting of mostly European countries that don't spend too much money on their military and have spent most of their time forging economic relationships with Russian companies. An organization that had been searching for purpose after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Definitely don't want those NATO members on your doorstep with all the "Hey, we'll buy your stuff if you buy our stuff and hey, can we hitch a ride on your space program?"
Unless your only complaint is that they make it hard to invade other countries.
Then fuck you.

Bu buh the US blah blah blah
Crazy Christians are too focused on their China Israel doomsday scenario to give a shit about Russia, a third rate has-been whose only prupose in American eyes are for Republicans to invest in Russian joint ventures and energy bullshit....almost like the Europeans.
Only reason why anyone cared about the Russians was to buy champagne and shit. No one want to shut them out or take them over of whatever. We wanted to make money together.
Unfortunately for Russia, Russia is run by an asshole who has assholes troll this forum with bullshit.
Recursive Russian asshole syndrome.

Assuming Putin's forces were 190K as reported, 9K is roughly 5% kill rate in 6 days of war. If these numbers are to be believed Putin will run out of men in little over 100 days.
I'm not sure Ukraine can hold out for 100 days. I'm hoping it lasts nowhere near that long.
