Come February, we as a nation may be embracing Putin's tyranny
Not to mention embracing a newly unified one China shortly thereafter.

And then an astounding explosion in nuclear proliferation across the entire globe, as MAD becomes the only security against such militaristic expansionism.

Yeah the PLAN doesn't just sink Chinese clones of Russian clones of German boats (Sub 361), they sink the new ones too.

361 lost all hands, then chilled at a depth of like 20ft for 10 days before a fishing boat happened upon the periscope. Must have been a grisly recovery.

I wonder if it was an effort to cover up the disaster that led to the eerie circumstances of that boat's demise. We all know how Chinese pride is a very tender thing to behold and making a scene out of a recovery effort would have given their pride a serious ding. The origin of the Covid strain being spread to the world by China's emigrants was being kept under wraps by the Chinese gov't until it was too late to contain it within their borders, so this incident with the pride of their navy being ingloriously scuttled must have triggered a similar reaction.

I don't believe they'll ever attain the level of skill and expertise you'll see on a Virginia, regardless of Russian tech being handed over by Putin.

Thing is, they don't need to be on that level. As long as crews can handle waiting on the bottom or approaching slowly, then firing off a salvo of wake seeking torpedoes, that's probably good enough. I think Beijing would probably be fine losing all of it's subs if it meant taking out the American carriers it hates with a vengeance.

Russians have advanced around Vuheldar and claimed firing positions covering the supply roads. It is operationally encircled.
Ukrainians there are in a lot of trouble.

Well, given the ongoing precedents continuing to supply Israel missiles and bombs that are being dropped directly on civilian city blocks and targeting enemy leaders, I'd presume that this latest $8 billion shipment to Ukraine should include AGM-158B/B-2 cruise missiles along with unrestricted targeting on Russian soil for all weapons.
(but it won't)

It might be because of Russia's invasion that Ukraine might eventually shift to a more decentralized grid structure which favors renewables.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-harris-presidential-election-09-27-24/index.html

I can understand why Zelensky felt the need to meet with Trump, despite Trump's claims about him.

“It’s very important to share, to share all the plan, all our steps, how we can strengthen Ukraine,” Zelensky said in remarks next to Trump in New York. “And of course, we have to decide it now, because after November, we don’t know who is, only Americans decide who will be the president, but we understand that till November, we can’t stop Putin. We have to do it. We will try on the battlefield with our heroic soldiers. But we understand that after November, we have to decide, and we hope that the strengths of United States will be very strong, and we count on it. That’s why I decided to meet with both candidates.”

And after Zelenskyy delivers his pitch, I picture Trump standing over him uttering that familiar refrain we all know and love " So, what's in it for me huh?"

Apparently very smart people in the Pentagon and the NSC believe that Putin will attack NATO facilities if we allowed deep strikes with our munitions.

It is absolutely moronic but that is what they seem to believe.

It's the coming back up alive part that's the real trick.

That's what so weird about their crew not being able to egress the hull with them being dockside and only 20 ft. of ocean between them and fresh air. I wonder if the entire crew got a very unhealthy dose of rads and nasty nuke particles before they knew what was going on such that a rescue attempt would have been suicidal.

But he is already attacking NATO facilities in Europe via sabotage teams.

They mean direct military action.
What constitutes direct military action? Hard to roll tanks across the border if there aren't any left not occupied in Ukraine. What's left but human bodies trying to kill people and blow shit up?

Probably missile strikes. I’m not defending their assessment lol.

Not only does this harm the Russian economy but it will turn Trump red if the price of gas drops in usa ;)

Nah, he'd find some way to take credit for it.
Article claimed they'd be taking this action in... checks notes... December.
There will be a lag time between action and price drop for consumers.

This IS for the next President to "take credit".

The FT, citing people familiar with Saudi thinking, reported that Saudi Arabia is committed to the group raising production as planned on Dec. 1, even if that means a longer period of low oil prices.

Prices fall on even the announcement of production increases and overall oil price trend has been steadily downward for the past year.

Are you telling me gas at the pump is going to be 50 cents cheaper by Nov 1st?
If it is not in time for the election, I'd argue it is not meant for this election.
