I think a Rush conviction and prison term would actually damage the reputation and good name of the Republican party and thus damage the fabric of American values.  For that reason alone, if for no others, he should get a pass and not be prosecuted.  There is just too much at stake, too many people whose illusions would be crushed.  A conviction, I think, could actually lead thousands, if not millions, to be tempted to use drugs too, not only to ease the pain of such broken dreams, but as a sort of ditto act of support.  I don't think we want to put the country through that.  I for one forgive.  You really do need to cut prominent white people slack because they are the backbone of the nation.  Even God had his Prodigal Son.
