Running Simultaneous Scans?

Hi.

I have never been clear on if there is some reason to not run simultaneous scans, i.e, MBAM and Superantispy.

I think there must be reasons not to, but I am unclear on the specifics.

Thanks!

Does nobody have info on this to offer?:|

So hard to believe given the hugely impressive amalgam of savvy here!!

I wouldn't. Aside from possibly conflicting with each other, it'll thrash the disk while they decide on which gets to access what. I'd schedule a task to scan on different days with different products while I was asleep, so I didn't have to see it.

Thank you! That makes sense.

Cept when I shut down a system---I never hibernate even---I then pull the surge strip from the wall.

I think I got greedy re "hurry up'. Also thought throttling might not be an issue with the i7 chip.

I will go on running one at a time. I was only asking about malware scans, Norton does everything by itself invisibly, ongoing: updates, scans, logs....I just clear the logs every coupla days.

But my concern was runing malware scans. Back in the day I had paid for versions of both MBAM abnd Superanti, meaning I could run both in real time, and I did, briefly, until I felt maybe this is not a good idea. I emailed Superanti, they were fabulous, and they said, yes, you should choose only one of us to run in real time to preclude conflicts.

So, I am clear on that, I just wasn't re simultaneous scans.

Thanks again.

As lxskllr said, even if the programs didn't directly conflict with each other (which they can do), a big issue is that it will make both scans run slower since the drive has to jump around a lot more to access the different files that the programs are trying to scan at the same time.

If you want to scan a system with more than one program, it's better to just do one at a time.

I am cured! I truly am!

I even felt, it seems to luv video encoding much...while maintaining really good thermals---- I should give this chip something to DO re multitasking.

The ongoing speed improvements of the engine within Superantispy...with its warpspeed, simultaneous three scans (zero to 60; zero to 8K files in under two seconds) also inspired me.

BUT I AM now enlightened, and so....CURED!:thumbsup:

THANK you!
