Fly. The first time you tripped over something that you didn't notice while running 100mph, you'd die. You'd probably have to stay on roads, and the rest of traffic wouldn't be looking out for a runner moving 100mph. Just a matter of time until a lane change or someone pulling out in front of you, then splat.

Meanwhile you are in a shooting gallery at 10mph...

He made that up on the fly. Don't give him credit.

:D

I guess I totally missed the joke. Oh car squishing snail, got it.

Fly, you can bypass everything and just go in a straight line, and the view would be awesome.

As long as it's not like dreams where you forget how to fly while you're already high in the air.

Yea, if someone could fly, there would be no shortage of hoods and hillbillies lining up to take pot shots.

It would be interesting though. And it would put a dent in drone sales.

It's not a very quick rate of ascent though, even if you're trying to avoid something fairly primitive, like a bow and arrow, or.....maybe a gun.
In time, you'll probably see more police helicopters in the area.

Actually 10 mph straight up, 52800 ft./hour, 880 ft/min. isn't too bad. Granted the top velocity is low, so you don't want to get chased by a Bell Jetranger. On the other hand I am assuming you can hover, since 10 MPH is too low for any aerodynamic effect to be responsible for the lift. So if you can hover its game over. Park in a cloud, or behind a tree, lots of places to tuck yourself away.

Or accidentally fly into highly restricted airspace near a military base and get to see if a radar-guided missile can lock on to a human body in the air.

Or just fly into restricted airspace near an airport and get fined by the FAA.

If you can get out of range fast enough, yes, you're in the clear.
(And hope that there aren't any planes flying through that same cloud on their way to a nearby airport.)

...being able to fly at 10mph doesnt mean you can fly straight up at that speed.
We were given insufficient technical data, including the physics of this flight capability, in order to properly ascertain the options.
Aerodynamic effects? Gravitational mitigation? Spacetime warping? Big quadcopters and suspended hammocks?

fly. Get a really good snowmobile suit and catch some winter tailwinds eastbound. 10 mph plus 60 MPH tailwind = profit.
Ride the bus back westbound :D

In this fictitious example of being able to fly, what exactly allows us to stop... other than the ground? :p

I'd say flying, and the best thing you could do is become The Rocketeer and equip yourself with something to augment your speed where your 10 MPH flying becomes your initial flight and control capability.

You can decelerate at a rate of 10mph/s.
