Can anyone here the giant sucking sound? It's the Defense budget, the money to defend America, going down the drain...to the illegals...and Katrina victims...

I bet Osama is throwing a party somewhere. The War On Terror is over. And the terrorists have won. Get ready for open season.

The entire world is going to rejoice at the news. Hopefully there will be a real change in the way the war is run in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Congrat to the Democrats.

Rumsfeld was a punk. Don't know much about Gates.
From a political machine and representative democracy point of view, there may not seem like much difference between the two major parties.

From a platform point of view, there's a major difference. You could draw up a huge list of points where both parties diverge drastically.

Somewhere. But we have no idea where the hell somewhere is, because we're too busy fighting a war that has nothing to do with terrorism.

I'll celebrate when the situation in Iraq gets better.

Its a step in the right direction.

A baby step. How do we know this Gates guy (if that's who it ends up being) is going to do anything different?

Nothing will change, terrorists will still bomb Iraq.

And everywhere else. The beat goes on.

Suicide bombers in Pakistan

Scores killed in Sri Lanka refugee camp

Hamas tosses out its truce with Israel

What I fear the most is that a Democrat Dove will win in 2008 and try to negotiate with the Islamists.

i think like hastert said, the dems didnt win. the GOP lost. they could've won this but a bad war and worse, corruption across the country hurt them

what you have right now, is similar to Clinton's presidency when he couldn't get anything done because of bipartisanship and a congress against him. this is what bush is facing for the rest of his presidency. i sure hope that, when it comes to domestic affairs, (AKA not the iraq war or the war on terror) they put their differences aside and not try to oppose anything and everything that the other party does. in the end it hurts the citizens.

Take it to P&N asshats. No one cares about your conspiracy theories about Democrats colluding with terrorists.

Where did anyone say anything about colluding? Other than you that is.

$300 billion in Iraq has defended this country? From what?

I didn't know the Repugs had so many sore losers in their party.

Iran is an Islamic Republic, and the Bush administration was negotiating with them last time I checked.

Where? What have the republican's done about illegal immigration in the last 6 years of total control that the democrat's will reverse?

I haven't heard one democrat say anything about more money to Katrina victims, and let's talk about the hundreds of millions that already went to Katrina victims, much of which was mismanaged/lost/stolen.... also under Republican control. Where have you seen any sign that the democrats would waste more?

And please find just one quote of a democrat who won who said they're going to decrease funding for defense. The majority of democrats have voted for every defense spending bill that has come up since 9/11, so why the hell would you assume they all of a sudden wouldn't fund defense now?

If you have any specific examples of things the Republicans did that the Democrats are going to change i'd love to hear them. Otherwise i'll just assume that something in the Republican kool-aid corrupts your critical thinking abilities.

rule of thumb: anything the republicans do badly is done worse by democrats.
