It didn't take a genius to figure out that a glorified dumbphone the same price as a smartphone requiring smartphone contract pricing would flop miserably.
Microsoft will just quietly bury this and include the functionality into Windows Phone 7.
Yeah, when it was first unveiled, I thought it had a chance of being a success if it had some special data plan for unlimited (or a lot of) texts and unlimited data for ~$15. When the pricing was announced I was astonished by M$'s stupidity.
Uh, I don't think it's MS that controls the cost of the text and data plans.

It was under their control which provider to go to. M$ bragged about how much market research they did for the Kin. They should have focused on pricing a little bit more, 'cause it would have predicted this failure. I'm sure sprint or T-Mo would have been much more willing to negotiate the plan details than Verizon.
The KIN is like Windows ME they shove some garbage product before the good release. lol
This could have been a nice phone for a teen if it was priced right, especially the data
i agree. totally not for me, but i bet my 13 and 15 yr old daughters would have loved it.
i would have bought this phone for all of my kids if they offered a $9.99 unlimited data plan for it.
