They are beefing them up. They just aren't beefing them up by making them very wide (and thus being far more complicated to manage), because unlike Intel, AMD doesn't have more money than God.

The design addresses this. If they had that kind of money. They would donate it. jk

I am under nda. I dont work for amd. bulldozer is very competent. I wish i could elebarote more. I work for a company that is heavily server based. we kicked the tires on bulldozer as a future contract. my personal opinion is I love it.

we got 2 engineering samples on a quad board with bad bios. what a mess at first. bios revision and we got it working. improved memory throughput. nice job AMD they did something with the mem controller. not sure but it works great.

i saw how the cores worked inside a module. cache is good. mem controller is beefed up.modest core clocks. gimped u can tell. temps and voltage very nice.

we tried several. mostly multi threaded server use. some because of maybe not having at first a working bios some not recognized maybe because of eng sample failed.

i saw at one instance all cores with turbo 3.8 on engineering sample. this was a 4 module chip times two on a quad board.

guys this wont beat a 2600k sandy! sorry to burst your bubble. I wish i had a non server board to attempt an overclock. this is an engineering sample on a bios screwed up tyan board. i dont see a big coming of christ amd is back and king. sorry. its a good cpu but its not the holy grail.

At what clocks? Is the multiplier on the chip you have locked? Can you OC it to find out what kind of clocks it can actually take?

We knew that it hasn't a prayer against 2600 clock-to-clock, but just how high can it go?

eh? not even in highly multithreaded apps? if bulldozer can't compete in highly multithreaded apps, that kinda seems like a loss to me. That's what BD is made for, all the way. Lots of cores for multithreading.

i wish i could test it but as a guess it will do 4ghz with low volts. a guess im using server parts so its hard to make a real guess. sorry we are a server company and this is all non production cpu and a sketchy bios.

let me say this in multi thread its good. can it beat intel? not with what i have been testing? sorry guys its close in most apps and it MIGHT win in a couple cherry picked.

2.6 with multis that are greyed out
