if intel wasn't underclocking SB so aggressively we would have many sku's over 4ghz right now, with an EE edition easily able to reach 4.5. Intel clock speeds aren't that far behind ibm, they just don't have any reason to push the envelope right now.

Bros,

Then thank goodness no one will purchase the i5 2500 (non k) or they would get stuck with an unlocked underclocked SB CPU...I just cant see them doing this on purpose IMO...

Customer: Why there is no 2x16PCI-e on the 1155?
Intel: If you have enough money for SLI or CF then throw some of it in our way.
Customer: This concept, x58, proved to be a dead end socket, surpassed by 1155 and 1156.

Excuse me?

That is just pure FUD...

TBH X58 was good for over 3yrs.

X58 was a great platform, even if the chips to go with it were slightly overpriced.

The problem is, that Intel decided to neglect this platform, not offering shrinks, while the main platform(s) (1156 and 1155) proceeded at full speed.
As a consequence we have vacuum till January 2012 (LGA2011) in this "X58 segment".
This vacuum or greed for "enthusiast" money did hit Intel with the recent mainboard bug; Intel has nothing to sell (if not to dead sockets; 1156 and 1366).

It does suck, especially since I'm on the market for a new rig, I was seriously considering SB, but I wasn't sure if I wanted a midrange platform. So I don't have much choice but to see what BD offers.

But I guess when your Intel and have no competition in that range, you have the luxury of neglecting an entire platform.

And how do I know it!!
I ordered the 2600K and the motherboard; just on the day of shipment the news of the bug got out, so I halted the package "last minute".

Considering that the new boards and that Z version are due out in April (or end of March) I decided to wait for Bulldozer (considering they are going to break news on it on CeBit-three weeks from now).

The news of the exodus of AMD managers just got out; it sounds like the rewind of the 2006/2007 situation. Is Bulldozer a failure?

What does bother me with SandyBridge are the X16 Pcie lines; enough for recent GPUs, but not for the new 28nm generation due out in November/December time-frame.
Am I buying a non upgradable PC?

How terrible!!!

You are just lying.

Socket 1366 was high end, socket 1156 was main-stream.
Socket 155 is mainstream, socket 2001 wil be high end.

Don't lie socket 1156 into something is not (a socket 1336 killer)...just as you shouldn't lie socket 1155 into something it's not (High end is socket 2011)

So yes, your post and arguments are terrible...and not part of the real world.

What's terrible is you completely missed the argument he was actually making, and are spinning it into one he isn't making. Red herring. Stop doing that.

X58 was the best platform I've ever owned. I actually feel a little foolish having gone over to SB.

I'm still very happy with my X58 system; I'd rather pick up a Gulftown CPU than move over to SB. What excites me about Bulldozer is

1) It would be great to have an AMD that can compete better with Intel.
2) The folding performance of BD is likely to be exceptionally high, given how well AMD's hexacore CPUs already perform.

And point two could move me to switch back over to AMD based systems (though I don't plan on doing anything till ~1yr from now).

Red herring.

He'll be probably doing this for that compliment.

Thanks! :)

Is there any noticeable performance difference?

Ajay, I'm still hoping Bulldozer proves as an excellent product.

He wrote, quite litterally that the socket 1156 "surpassed" socket 1366.
That is a lie...
(Hell, even for socket 1155 it would be stretch)
Thanks for playing...

Correcting a lie is trolling?

World must be very weird in AMD-land...

You are trolling in the AMD bulldozer thread. You have been asked to stop.
You are trolling, name calling, antagonizing the members who are having a peaceful discussion.

You've had enough warnings here.

You're off for a week of hard ban.

The problem is your rudeness and attitude problems when addressing toward other members of the forum, so it might be it is ok in Troll City, but here it is unacceptable.

its belittleing and makeing a joke at anothers expense.... if you where just correcting him, you could have done so, and presented some factual evidence, instead you just made fun of a person and told him hes wrong because you said so.

We should all be nicer to one another, no reason not too on a forum.

Dont believe any unproven claims in the computer world!

Show me the benchmark??????

How many outrageous claims have you seen in the area of computers? Claims are a lot easier to make, than they are to prove!

The X6 performs well? Since when considering the 2500k puts a beating on the 1100t

Forgive him, he just comes from a country that fought the 3rd Reich for about 24 hours and their prime minister declared that siding with Nazis was morally unjustifiable, in 2003.

It's pretty incredible how big of a spanking the 1100T gets. Everyone dropped hte price down to $200 now. It is mildly tempting, but I think it really needs to be down to about $120 or something.

What do you do with your computer that you would notice so much of a difference to call it a "spanking"...honestly? Encoding? Rendering? Something else? Benchmarks like superpi or something like that don't count.

I think more people would notice a bigger difference between a SSD and a regular HDD before they notice the difference between 2 modern CPUs.
