Rude old woman

So I am in Price Chopper (supermarket) yesterday and my friend calls me from Atlanta, GA to tell me she got a job (she barely moved down there a few weeks ago) I see out of the corner of my eye this woman pushes my shopping cart out of the way because I had left it near the spices. I apologized to her and continue talking to my friend. The woman then says o me "Damnit! I don't want to hear your conversation" Now I am not usually a rude person but I instantly shot back at her "Well I guess your just going to have to deal with it, woman". She then says "call me woman..." in a snobby voice. I then say "Fine. You just going to have to deal with it, old lady" I then continue my conversation with my friend "so you got a job? thats great". The old woman jumps in again and says "maybe you should get a job" I reply "I have a job, thanks. Where do you think I get the money to pay for this cell phone that pisses you off so much" I guess after that she mumbles something about my "mommy and daddy" paying for it which my roommate told me she said. (who was standing right next to me) My friend on the phone asks me what is going on and I tell her "Nothing, just some old hag hassling me about my phone."

I realize that I was pretty nasty to this woman but she was the one to snap at me for no good reason. I was not being loud on my phone. I was talking in a normal tone of voice and if I had been talking to my roommate it would have twice as much noise and just as loud.

My area is a college town and some of the people here have a hatred for college students.
Their mindset is: Young guy with nice jacket and cell phone = college kid = spoiled mommy and daddy's boy.

Cliff notes:
There are none. Read the above text.

What a biach! I can't stand people like that. What's the difference if you were talking to someone in person? NONE! and in person it would probably be louder! So obviosly she is just an ignorant bitch, who is jealous because you are doing better in life than she is. Anyways, if she didn't want to hear you, she just has to not listen or go to another aisle. Whatever "woman"!

You'll be sorry when she drops dead on isle four...

Just remember it could have been someone else talking to your grandmother.

Haha... nice response! I hate people talking on the cell phone in the grcery store too, but I would never say anything to anyone. It doesn't effect me, so why whould I care.

I would have made the same comments to you regarding your phone. Why were you having a conversation in a supermarket? Is your life that busy that there was no other time available?

So you were yap yap yapping away on your phone in public and she said something to you. Your response was to be an asshole and proudly post here about how right you were?

You sound like a real class act...

You should have pushed her onto the floor and then overturned a display case onto her. All while screaming "How do you like me now Gandma!"

LOL, brilliant ATOT story. Of course if that old bitty were 40 years younger, 2 feet taller and male, you would have pissed your pants instead.

Next time, just give a sneer. I find that even the largest of assholes react to my favor when they see teeth.

Exactly. Nice summary.

What is the difference between me talking on my phone or if I was talking to my roommate? Does this old bag need to see the person I am talking to in order for her to accept my conversation as a legit one? I will not talk on my phone if I am dealing with an employee though. I think that is rude to them. (like when your checking out)

The difference is you were in the way.
The phone was a distraction.
You are in the wrong.
