I'm waiting to see if he changes the options to reflect higher numbers
I would, but people already voted.

You can redo it :p (not saying you should)

Am I correct in my reasoning on a ship filled with crew means your kill number is the amount of crew that died?

Well if thats the case, I dont know how many 1000+ crew ships I killed in High Seas Trader in the mid 1990s.

1 Ship 1 kill!

Unless each individual crew member can leave the ship & attack, then only one kill. Fighters that haven't deployed can count. Excape pods count. When you destroy a military base, any indivial soldier you couldn't of come in contact with before detonation doesn't count.

But OP says he means

I would guess so

Hmm...

In one GTA:3 file I had 478,000 kills when my save file corrupted, mostly from running people over with the tank outside the stadium. I was going for a million, and it took me months to reach 478K.

Considering how much time I spend on video games, and considering that I tend to prefer killing things even when it's not the objective at hand, I'm sure I've killed somewhere on the order of 6.45^500! things.

How can you count something that isn't or was never there?

Aren't we talking about computer games? :p

Nothing is really there.

I think blowing up an planet that's supposed to have almost 3 trillion people on it is more significant than killing a head crab or something.

I asked the OP for clarification on what he meant to ask before voting since I think he's the one that should make the rules about what counts as a kill. (Not you?)

EDIT: If the question was "Objects" I would tend to agree with you. If the question is "people", I interpret that as meaning if an object is known to have multiple people contained within it, those "people" are destroyed when the object is destroyed.

I said 50-100K, but I was only thinking of UT Series/FEAR/COD2/Drowning people in RCT, but I completely forgot about SC, Diablo, and Diablo 2 with the cows....

What I'm trying to refer to is intended targets. Those people on the planet aren't part of the game. You can't kill a million creatures unless they actually show up on your screen. If you miss the targets, & then they all run & hide on a ship, yes, destroying that ship would equal alot of kills. A group of villagers in a cutscene wouldn't count, unless they eventually come into play. You don't know what really happened when you blew up that planet.

From what I've seen, it would probably be listed like this:

Kills

Trolls:45
Goblins:20
rats:214
humans:128
demons:91
dogs:16
vampires:6
automatons:9
cruisers:77
fighters:102
planets:2

You probably wouldn't even get credit if it was the endgame. :p

This thread has given me a strong urge to play Diablo 2. But I still can't find my discs :(.

I also wouldn't really know where to start, but I think the majority of kills would come from Diablo 2 (cow level :)) and Starcraft/WC3 custom games with hundreds of kills per game (turret defense, footmen frenzy, etc.).

definently in the millions. StarCraft was a lot with all the zerglings. and the hours i spent with GTA:SA and UT2k4 add a lot.

download the vehicle invasion gametype and weapons of evil for UT2k4. put it on unlimited ammo for all guns and you will end up killing atleast 1000 per game. and the spwan killing in Bombing run and CTF as well as DD add up very quick.

Let's see...

To kill 10 billion+ things, you'd have to kill 10 things every single second for over 31 years.

Either a lot of you use hyperbole too often, or you have no idea of the ridiculousness of some of those poll choices.
