I think that people should be allowed to say exactly what they feel, that way we know exectly who they are. (I vote with my eyes and my pocketbook. I no longer watch Mel Gibson movies (I am Jewish), and he has done some of my favorite movies.) For people who feel a certain way to NOT say how they feel is fake. It is the feeling we should be trying to change, not the speach.
BTW, I have not actually seen the video, but based on the descriptions here, I do not think it was racist. She was simply trying to imitate Chinese for the purposes of her story. What about that was racist? Like someone else said, she could have used French, Spanish or any other language to make her point - I doubt she went with Chinese because she is racist against Chinese.

But when she actively tries to take away my firearms and says I should be in prison merely for owning a firearm, she crosses the line and earns my disgust

In some ways I do agree with you, even though I'm liberal, but how does that effect the alleged racism in her comment?
If someone in China imitated me speaking (they say English sounds like "yak yak yak"), I couldn't care less.
:thumbsup: Why are people so dumb? Anything that could remotely be offensive or racist is immediately held up as being so. I don't even like her but lets get with reality.
It's really not a big deal these days as most people just brush it off but it's easy to return to a time when you were young and people would use that same imitation on the playground to make fun of the fact that you are Chinese. That's why people get offended by it. It's typically followed with the eye squinting and eye pulling, etc that people like to do. As adults, most assume that you've matured beyond the attack on a person based purely on an aspect of their race (as in language, skin color, appearances, etc).
Of course, all of the above attacks had malicious intent to belittle. Her comment didn't seem to encourage stereotyping but more of an attempt to impersonate to create "realism" in her joke.
To all those that are telling others to stop blurring the lines, stereotyping and racism are on that line, thus why it's blurred. You make it seem like race issues are black and white.

If non-Jews voted with their pocketbook to put a Jewish star out of work, the Jewish community would be up in arms about it and crying about ant0i-semitism. From what I hear, he's blacklisted.
I'm just sick of special interest goups always whining about things.

I'm sure this has been said, but doesn't seem like an intent of racism, only playing on tired stereotypes that everyone already knows to get a laugh (which failed).
I never knew people hated her that much. Youtubers are saying the same thing and it's all about her sexual orientation or weight. Is that what it's all about? I suppose people just don't like her personality and views, but why resort to petty name-calling?

If the Jew was racist like Gibson is anti-semitic, I would be right there with the boycott.
Besides, I am not whining about anything, nor have I organized some sort of Mel Gibson boycott. I have just made a personal decision that if he feels that way about me, I am not going to give him my business.
I don't think you should make it out to be more than what it is.
