You're a fool. The bravery she exhibited on that day changed everything. I'm sure at the time she had no idea the impact she would have on the future, but her act is one of the most important in American history.

 Read the thread. She wasn't the first and she was far from having the most impact on civil rights.

And it doesn't belittle what she catalyzed. Basically, she is the John Scopes of her day. There were a lot of people the NAACP could have used as the champion for their case. She was it, so she gets credit for it.

hold on a sec, you say she wasnt the most influential but just the fact that everyone relates her to the civil rights movement must mean that most people look at her as having a big part of the movement.

Do they teach history in Middle School anymore?

wasn't she the one who had that underground railroad?

She wouldn't change her seat on the underground railroad? Was that it?

Does Bush have a personality? During his speech about Parks, he sounded no different than when he talks about the economy. Is he on meds or something? I'm serious.

She lived a long time and probably died of old age comfortably and with dignity, atleast she didn't die by getting hit by a bus, the field day white supremecists would have had with that irony.

Where did you read this? Or is this just your opinion?

I think some long time members take turns threadcrapping Rest in Peace threads. It was oldsmoboat (I think) that crapped in the Peter Jennings thread.

I'm black... I know many blacks that cried when they heard the news. Don't make assumptions.

She was obviously the most influential and she basically made Martin Luther King Jr. If she would have never done what she did, then MLKJr. would never be who he was today. Before the Parks event MLK was just a normal african american church leader, but b/c of Parks he took a stand.

Not sure if it was already said but,...
Rosa Parks didn't sit in the front of the bus. As we all know the front was for the whites and the back of the bus was for the blacks. Parks sat in the very front of the black section. Also, when more white people got on the bus black people were made to move back and give up their seat for the whites, so it was common to find blacks standing or sitting in the aisles in the back of the bus. When more whites got on the bus the told her to move back so a white man could take her seat. She denied him the seat. The bus didn't move... the white man became angry and the bus driver came back and told her to move. She stil refused. Ultimately she police was called and she was taken to jail for her decision.

This began the civil rights movement and the boycotting of the buses, which basically destroyed the bus system with all the blacks walking and finding other ways to work and where they needed to go, starting the Civil Rights Movement

Edit: Tell me if someone submitted this yet
