What do you mean? This can be taken in many different ways. If you can elucidate your meaning I can provide an appropriate response.

LOL...

I don't see him as a bigot. If you talk to most people on the street, I think they would have the same reaction he did. Bigot is a harsh term, and should be used carefully.
Nah he just needs a super enema to remove that bug that's been lodged up his ass for the past 5 years.

Apologies for my less than loquacious comment. I just feel that 'equality' these days is anything but. 'Positive discrimination' and the race card that trumps all in an argument are two examples that spring to mind. Perhaps I'm being captious, and I certainly don't want to threadcrap here in what isn't far off an obituary, so I'll save it for another day/thread/forum.

RIP.
The civil rights movement was jumpstarted by her action on the bus. Maybe she wasn't the first. Maybe something else would've had the same effect. Maybe others have done more for the movement. However, the fact remains everything changed after her action. It was simply put a defining moment in history.

WRT Outkast: part of the reason for the lawsuit was because it was barely related to Rosa Parks. Only the chorus refers to "the back of the bus." The rest of the song (from what I remember of the lyrics) is about clubbing. Rosa Parks and her family felt the song was using her name to sell a song that had nothing to do with the lady.

WRT Nik: IMHO, he's not a bigot. If he just voiced his thoughts a little better, it wouldn't be read as a threadcrap it became.

wow have some respect people. if you don't care about this extremely important person passing away, for the sake of others trying to read the thread, stay out next time. geez

similarly, if you have no clue about what the person has done to better society, keep your ignorant crap to yourself and go troll in another thread.

absolutely ridiculous.

Anyone here who is arguing on the effect that Rosa Parks had on the Civil Rights Movment sould be shot, burned, and consumed by hell. The lady, who was a very important historical figure, just died and you guys have to argue about the validity of the media concerning her death?

And Nik, I agree with you that there are more inspirational things. I mean hell, MLK and Malcolm X were more inspirational, in my opinion.

Sorry I disagree. MLK and Malcolm X may have remained obscure figures if it was not for this 1 tired woman who dared question the entrenched notion that somehow her humanity was less than a white person. Her simple act of defiance is arguably the catalyst for the civil rights movement that took place in this country in the 1950's and 60's.

[Barbershop]There are three things that Black people need to tell the truth about. Number one: Rodney King should've gotten his ass beat for being drunk in a Honda a white part of Los Angeles. Number two: O.J. did it! And number three: Rosa Parks didn't do nuthin' but sit her Black ass down![/Barbershop]

I love that movie. :D

RIP Rosa.

Who's pretending that Rosa Parks is the be-all and end-all of civil rights?

She brought national attention to the civil rights cause and her simple protest was symbolic of a sentiment and movement that was much larger than her. There is nothing wrong with recognizing her death and honoring the life she led. Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would take issue with an article honoring Rosa Parks.

You're a fool. The bravery she exhibited on that day changed everything. I'm sure at the time she had no idea the impact she would have on the future, but her act is one of the most important in American history.
