roommate troubles....

I like the idea of locking the dog in your roommate's room for the day, and then let him deal with the mess. My suggestion would be to arrange for a friend (who can keep his mouth shut) to keep the dog for a couple of days. When your roommate comes home, tell him that since he wasn't able to care for the animal, you had Animal Control take it to the pound. Let him sweat it out for a couple of days trying to find the dog, then bring the dog back. Tell him that if he doesn't straighten up his act, the next time it will be for real.

What ever you do, do it to your roommate and not the dog. I hate it when irresponsible people have pets and the ones that ended up getting abused are the pets. You can try to potty train the dog, send it to a trainer school, or just tell management and let them deal with your roommate. I wouldn't do the latter because if your name is on the leash (pun intended!) then you will be reponsible for your roommate's actions as well and this whole fiasco will end up costing $$$$.

Why does this roommmate of yours have a dog anyways if he doesn't have the time to take care of it?

Call the landlord, and give the dog away. Or just leash it in his room and let it sh|t all over his bed/carpet/clothing etc.

I agree, why are you not putting it in HIS room and closing the door?

yell @ him about it..really yell @ him....don't be nice anymore...be assertive,.....if all else fails....punch him...and talk to management...

Are you allowed to have pets in your lease? If it is against your lease to have em, YOU could be looking for someplace else to live because of your roomates action. Also if it is crapping and peeing on the carpet, I am guessing your security deposit is bye bye as well. Did the three of you split up the cost for the security deposit? If so, I'd be asking the roomate to reimburse you for your third.

st@b it, j/k. Are we allowed to say that on here anymore??

I think people who say that get banned.

Don't take it out on the dog though. Have a good talk with your roomate, make the dog crap on his stuff if anything.

LOL.. this realy made me laugh out loud

Punch him... hhhahhahh

You are completely in the right, and he is completely in the wrong on this one. I've had bunches of experience with roommates, and bringing pets in without everyone's approval is NOT ALLOWED. You gotta be forceful with him, lay down the law. One of my roommates brought a dog in unanounced, at first I was pissed, but it turned out to be such a good dog that I ended up not caring. But if I had had some huge aversion to it, I surely would've told him so.

In the meantime, putting the dog in his room is a good idea. I'm sure there'll be plenty in there for it to play with 😉

That's a racisit remark, you don't know if they are Koreans. 🙂

I kid, I heard winter time is the best for enjoying a canine cusine. supposely it gives you "fire". I might try it when I take my vacation in Asia in February.

Now, the dog problem? call ASPCA and turn your roomate in for abusing the pet since he's not taking care of it.

well, the thing is that he has his bed out in the livingroom and he sleeps out in the livingroom...so I can't really put the dog in his room as he doesn't have one.

as in most of these roommate threads, you are the bitch in the relationship and you allow yourself to be walked on. until you unambiguously lay down the law you are not going to get any respect.

Sit him down and tell him that he's not being responsible to the dog. Not only is it rude to you but it's also cruel to the dog. Tell him to either begin training the dog (and watch him and make sure he does it for more than 1 night) or to get rid of it, otherwise you'll be forced to go to management.

but is there anything I can do before reaching that point?

Yes. You should go and ask a bunch of people who don't know you or your roomate for their opinion.

Oh wait, your already trying that.
Bill
