He was having a rough time... he was suffering from depression, and sleeping 14 hours a day didn't help with that. I tried to help by trying to get him out of bed in the morning, but apparantly that made things worse. He started taking Paxil (or something like that) shortly after that happened. I certainly didn't try to provoke him, although I could have diffused the situation by just keeping my mouth shut after he got pissed at me for disagreeing about the Counterstrike thing.

Basically he resented me because I did well in school.

My roommate story -

My roommate during my junior year never went to class, usually slept until about 4 p.m. and only woke up then because his track teammates dragged him out of bed to go to practice. This was my fault, because I did so well in school that it made him depressed. One night he was playing counterstrike, and the main server on campus made him download a program to verify that he didn't have any cheats. He made some comment about how it wasn't worth it to download this stupid program to play Counterstrike. I said apparantly it was, because he did it. Then he made some comment about Chinese people, and somehow the situation in Israel came up (???). I forget all of what was said, but at one point he started threatening to hit me. I kept saying "______, I'm not going to fight you." At some point some guy who was brushing his teeth came into our room. Why, I have no idea.

The threats from my roommate escalated, and I just kept telling him I wasn't going to fight him. Finally I stood up so that if it did come after me, I wouldn't be in a vulnerable position (sitting in an office chair). He saw that as a threat and came after me and started punching me. The guy who was brushing his teeth pulled us apart and that gave me time to get out into the hall so our room wouldn't get trashed. He got past that guy and came after me again, continuing to punch me while I just did my best to defend myself. It was about 3 in the morning at the time, so the guy who was brushing his teeth went to wake people up to help. He got our RA and a couple of other guys out there, and they managed to pull him off me. He calmed down a bit and said he had to go to the bathroom. To do that he had to walk past me. He walked right past the guys who were between him and me and went after me again. They pulled him down to the ground, but he pulled me down on top of him. At that point I looked in his eyes and I saw a man possessed by murderous rage. I got off of him and they calmed him down, and our RAs suggested that we both spend the night in someone else's room.

After that I didn't see him for several days. He slept in the woods near campus and apparantly went to class, because he sent me several threatening e-mails from one of the computer labs. I was kind of worried because he had 4 guns and seemed pretty unstable. Then one day I was walking back from class and some of my neighbors saw me and warned me that he was in our room. I went up to the room, said hey and sat down. He said "aren't you surprised to see me?" I said "no, this is your room." Then he apologized, we shook hands, and we've been great friends since.

WTF after all that and you become friends? I think you left out the sexorzz part :D:D

I live with two girls, and it's pretty bad. Both of them have never throw out the trash before, know how to use the A/C (understand the power consumption of the A/C), or know how to wash the dishes. Our electricity bill was $120 dollars last month because they leave the A/C on at full power 24/7. Thank god I'm moving out in a few days (only had to live with them for ~2 months, just spring semester of college).

My last room mates were two girls I met through a room-mate finding website. I should have realized what I was getting myself into after I met them, but I needed room mates, and having 3 of us in one place could only mean chap rent.

They were both complete morons. I refer to them now as the Angry B*tch, and the Whiney B*tch.

Angry B*tch was perpetually pissed off. Mainly at men, but also at the world in general. She whould always be confrontational, and couldn't carry on a conversation without saying something rude or condescending.

Whiney B*tch wanted to be emo so bad, but like everything else in her life, she failed miserably at it. While both girls could have easily been mistaken for a cow in the right light, Whiney B*tch was actually trying to do something about her weight. Well, claiming that she was trying to do something about her weight. She would eat diet meals, claiming they were healthy... but she would eat 2 or 3 in one sitting, which essentially defeats the purpose (in my opinion).

As part of her fruitless weight-loss crusade, Whiney B*tch would yell at me whenever I went grocery shopping because of the food I bought (we decided early on not to share food, and each went about our own cooking and eating). She claimed that me having "unhealthy" foods around was preventing her from adhering to her diet, because if the food was present, she would want to eat it. More often than not, she did.

Whiney B*tch was also a Convenience Vegetarian - that is, she was a vegetarian when it was convenient for her to be such. When I made steak, tacos, ribs, or anything like that, she would complain that the apartment smelled like meat, and asked if I would do my cooking at a friends house in the future when I made meat. When she hung out with her friends, she would often eat fast food burgers. Though I guess calling those things "meat" is a bit of a stretch, you get my idea.

Angry B*tch was the complete opposite. Despite being unhappy with her figure, she would eat anything that appealed to her. Looking back, I think she stole more food from Whiney B*tch and I than she ever bought from a store the entire time she lived with us. It got to the point that I started keeping whatever non-perishables I could in my bedroom, which only stopped her while I was home. She often had no problem just walking into my room and taking a can of soup, or box of Mac N Cheese.

Neither B*tch had much experience in what most of us know as "the real world." I was 20/21 while living with them, they were 18/19 and 19/20. Angry B*tch had spent her entire life living with her mom, and one year in the dorms. Her mom would often come visit the apartment, and they would loudly gossip in either Angry B*tch's bedroom, or the living room, many times talking about how horrible a person I was, or how big a nerd I was. Angry B*tch even kept her mom's dog at the apartment for days at a time. It was very large, very old, and didn't like me or Whiney B*tch. It peed on the carpets, and destroyed Whiney B*tches sofa. Over time I learned that Angry B*tch had no regard for other people.

Whiney B*tch's lack of maturity showed in other ways. She had no experience managing money. Her parents would pay for everything. In the time I lived with her she destroyed 3 iBooks, an iPod Video, and an iPod Nano. She didn't worry about bills because her parents always paid her share. This was unfortunate for Angry B*tch and I because Whiney B*tch would have the heat cranked to 85 in the winter, and the AC on all the time in the summer. Our electric bills were often close to $150, and gas close to $70. For comparison, I now live alone, in an apartment about the same size, and my electric bill is normally $30-$40. She also insisted on having a premium movie package with our cable, and balked when Angry B*tch and I refused to pay for it.

Whiney B*tch would also never clean. Ever. This isn't to say she is a messy person, she actually hates messes. She just won't clean them up, not even her own. There was one point near the end of our lease where she had thrown a party, and had filled the sink and neighboring countertops with dirty pots, pans, cups, and other various dishes. There was open food all over the kitchen and living room, and piles of trash in the corners. She left a note for me saying that she wasn't able to clean because my dishes were blocking the sink (I had a muffin tin and a mixing bowl in the sink from that morning), and demanded that I clean the mess up before she got home. I told her to clean her own mess, and she disappeared for a week. Angry B*tch said she was staying with her boyfriend because she couldn't stand the mess. Apparently her boyfriend's room mates couldn't stand her, because they came and cleaned up her crap at our apartment.

During the lease Whiney B*tch declared that she had written up some rules for us to "live peacefully with eachother" - the rules essentially targeted some of my habits, and included such gems as:
-No playing video games without headphones
-No listening to music that we don't all like
-No playing video games after 10
-No loud sex (no joke, this was a rule on the list)
-Take your towel out of the bathroom after you shower
-No walking around in your underwear (to be honest, I was thankful for this one)

During the summer, when we first moved in, we had no issues with the one bathroom the three of us shared. Once the school year started up, and the two of them had to be places, we ran into some issues. I had a 40-hour-a-week job. Angry B*tch burned through 5 jobs in the year we lived together, and Whiney B*tch worked at a nearby bank (2 blocks down the street, she drove every day) on occasion. In the mornings we started running into issues.

Angry B*tch needed to leave at about the same time I did 2 days a week. She would usually get up before me, take her shower, and then leave the hot water running while she did her hair and applied makeup. Her excuse was that she liked being warm while she was getting ready. Whatever the case, I would get either a cold, or lukewarm shower those morning, and be very rushed because she couldn't get ready anywhere besides in the bathroom.

Whiney B*tch needed to leave an hour after me every day of the week. Initially, I would get up before her, do my thing, and leave. After a few weeks of this, she decided she was running late, and asked me if she could use the bathroom first. Having never been home while she was getting ready in the past, I agreed. She went into the bathroom at 8:30, and got out at 10. I needed to leave at 9. I was pretty pissed, and said that wasn't happening again. She didn't say anything.

What ended up ensuing was a war of early alarms. The next day she set her alarm to go off 5 minutes before mine, and immediately ran into the bathroom. I was late for work again. The next day, I got up 15 minutes earlier, and took my shower. Halfway through the shower, Whiney B*tch turned on the hot water in the downstairs half-bathroom. My hot shower turned to ice, I hurried up, got out, and she went right in. The next day she woke up before me again. Not wanting to be late, I went to a sympathetic friends house to shower. On the way out I flipped the hot water on.

Whiney B*tch was pretty pissed off when I got home, and started yelling at me for being inconsiderate, rude, selfish, and an asshole. An argument followed, nothing was resolved, and our war of alarms and hot/cold water continued until the day we moved out.

At some point in the later half of our time together, one of my friends pointed me towards the B*tches MySpace pages, where they had been saying some pretty bad things about me. The circles of friends they hung out with pretty much disgusted me, but I still didn't want to deal with this, so I ended up blocking MySpace via the router. Initially they accused me of doing it intentionally, and Whiney B*tch even went so far as to threaten to have her boyfriend beat me up. When I showed them that MySpace wouldn't work on my computer either, they relented. The thought never crossed their mind that I didn't care much about MySpace.

I could go on and on, but just thinking about it makes me hate them even more. In the end when we moved out Whiney B*tch didn't clean anything at all, and Angry B*tch did a piss-poor job. They also only provided the landlord with my forwarding address. A month after I thought I had escaped from their bullsh*t, I got a bill for $300 from the landlord for cleaning, damages, and unpaid utilities. I ended up talking with the landlord, paying $100, and providing him with their forwarding addresses and phone numbers. I got a call a little later from Whiney B*tch. She screamed at me for giving out her personal info, saying the landlord had threatened to send the bill to collections. Whiney B*tch ended the call by saying she was meeting with a lawyer to sue me for harassment.

I never heard back from her, her lawyer, the landlord, or Angry B*tch. And I'm glad.

...they weren't "hot" lesbian girls. far from it. in fact i at first thought the naked girlfriend was just an ugly guy under the sheet from her short spiked hair and everything. it was when she stood up and i *gulp* saw the body i realized she wasnt a he.

I had a nightmare of a roommate experience once. Was back during my sophomore year in college, when my best friend (at the time) and another mutual buddy of ours decided to get our own apartment. All three of us were pot heads and pill poppers at the time but kept things in check (made it to classes, kept our grades up, never missed rent/bills, etc.). My friend and I weren't aware that along with weed, our other friend had developed a bad crack problem.

One night, we were there with our girlfriends when he comes busting through the front door saying some people were after him. He said it was over some owed weed money but we knew better than that. We figured our lives were officially in danger at that point so we had to get him out of the apartment that evening so none of us got caught in the middle of a bad drug deal.

On other occasions, he would steal money out of our girlfriends' pocketbooks and he also stole clothes from my buddy and I, to sell for crack. His grandparents were the only family members he had and they were super wealthy. So he would actually "rent" out their Cadillac some weekend nights to the drug dealers in exchange for crack. His grandparents were old and pretty sick so they weren't even aware of it at first. And one night, he had me drive him on what I thought was a quest for a bag of weed. I had NO idea where I was going but quickly realized that I was in the heart of one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city, in the middle of the night. Obviously, there was never any weed there...just crack heads and crack dealers.

My buddy and I tried interventions on several occasions both alone and with his grandmother but nothing ever got through to him. We woke up one morning at the apartment and found him in his bedroom, blue in the face with a phone cord wrapped around his neck. He wasn't dead but pretty close to it. We called 911 and he wound up being okay a few days later. To be honest, that's the last time we ever saw him. We just got sick of wearing ourselves out physically and emotionally, trying to help him but with no desire on his end to quit. One of the most frustrating and stressful times of my life. And with me trying to earn my degree, I just couldn't deal with it anymore.

A shame because when he wasn't using, he was the nicest guy in the world but that experience alone, made me never want to try crack in my life and pretty much turned me off of drugs, period.

Cliffs:
*Had crackhead roommate
*Nearly got me killed from his drug problem
*Nearly killed himself
*Crack is whack

My roommates in freshman year and sophomore year were all friends that I knew before. This year, I'm getting an apartment with 3 other friends. I guess I have it easy.

the roommates in my first two years were godly awful. now i'm entering my 4th year and will be sharing a townhouse with two other housemates. i hope this will turn out good even i lived in dorms for the first three years before i finally moved out of the dorms.

freshman year - roommate blacked out 7 times and i had to take care of him all night. he even peed on my bed sheets but i was luckily enough to take out my blankets and pillows. damn him and his german roots, he would never end up being hung over!!! he was kinda a troublemaker until he realized he was in deep sh!t so he finally came clean. i still talk to him and his record is starting to become cleaner now.

sophomore year - in the fall, roommate wore my clothes. he had a job and i didn't. i told him not to wear my clothes and he finally stopped until in the very beginning of spring. he wore my polo shirt. i came home from classes and went to reorganize my clothes. i found one polo shirt missing then i went to check my laundry bag to see if it's there but it wasn't there. so i knew my roommate was wearing my clothes again. when he came back home, we had a small pep talk. i told him why did he wear my clothes, he simply said my clothes were awesome. me= i told him he has a job and he should deserve the money he earned from job to buy awesome clothes. i called him a poser and said if he wears my clothes again i would file an incident report on him. he finally STOPPED wearing my clothes. damn him.

junior year - lived in a single room.

I've been pretty lucky... My roommates tended to get better as the years went on.

1st) 1st year in the college dorms. Momma's Boy. No real problem, but kind of a weiner...

2nd) Weird guy... Looked like a cross between Spock and Aarvid (from Head of the Class) Actually WORE Star Trek pins on his sweaters. Claimned to have a terminal disease, and the meds made him more emotional than any girl you'd ever meet. Came out of the closet towards the end of the year, but only to me... So maybe that's just a "Peek" out of the closet. :) Not a bad guy on most days tho...

3rd) 27yo former marine from Desert Storm, living in the freshman dorms. (I was 20yo) Was a bodybuilder with a large upper body, and skinny chicken legs. Took grey-market drugs that gave him lots of gas. NOTORIOUS for hitting on freshmen girls with AWFUL pickup lines.... Manager of Campus gym and walked up to a girl on a staionary bike and says "So, where ya goin'?"

4th) Buddy from the 2nd grade. Great roommate. However, dated a psycho who slept over WAY too much.

5th) Out of the dorms and into an apt. Roomed with the same roomie as before. More space, but psycho moved in too... Awesome parties.

6th) Roomed with another buddy that I knew for years in an apt. Great guy. We partied like crazy.

7th) Graduated college. Another buddy moved into an apt with me. Parties continue.

8) Buddy leaves, so I hook up with some hot lesbians I knew from college. What a great time. (I'll see if I can put up some pics somewhere...) We all went to the strip clubs and get special treatment because I come with the hot ladies...

9) My wife! (Neither of the lesbians.) But, I still like her! ;)
