59,000 miles for this car with the standard options (5 speed manual).

I think there's much better options out there for that kind of cash, but I'm not big in to cars. Is there anything comparable for about the same price that he can get used or new?

2 door/4 door is fine, somewhat sporty would be nice and I think a manual is almost needed.

Thanks guys

EDIT: I'm looking for ALTERNATIVE cars, not 'oh man preludes suck/rock. That's a ripoff' or whatever else is bound to come up

Wow thats a ripoff for that kind of cash man, it really is. I could have picked one up for 17.5k Canadian.

I suggest he look on Ebay and Autotrader for a better deal.

that price is a rip off, one sec and I'll tell you the wholesale/retail values

::edit::

holy crap, it appears whoever came up with that price has access to the same KBB program I do

The retail value is actually listed at $17,500 with that mileage not affecting value positively or negatively.

However, wholesale is $13,900 which still seems to high if you ask me.

Hrm, tough one then.
My friend bought a 2001 or 2002 prelude with a little less mileage for the same price. I'd say that price is too high.

I agree but what other cars are comparable for the same price?

Take your roommate to the nearest Scion dealer STAT and convince him to get a new tC for about the same price. Believe me, the tC will be worth more 3 years from now than an already-old 2001 Prelude. And he can add a supercharger to the tC later on.

Amen !!!11111111111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That is a horrid deal. Worthy of the title" worst deal I've ever heard" or at least in a long time. I could buy the same car, for about $10-11K.

Don't take my word for it. Look on the net, even KBB.com says $14K and I put excellent condition.

SH did not add much but a lotta weight!
True Rice Boyz know this and steer clear of SH 'Ludes
Who cares, they hold resale value better.

Referencing your next post, how the hell can you say a contour outhandles a prelude?

That's the going rate.

While I agree that I would pay a little more and get an RSX-S, Preludes are still in huge demand, and for good reason. They are badass.

Wow, what a ripoff. If he's intent on buying a Honda coupe, tell him to look at Accord V6 coupes.

SVT Contour my friend! Do some reading. The regular Contour made the C&D top ten list in '95 & '96, SVT engine made Wards Top Ten Best engine in '98.

Ford Focus is probably the best bang for the buck new if you get it with the 2.3liter duratec I think they can be had for around $13k. If your friend wants to spend more, the Dodge SRT-4 is a great car for around $19k new, and would probably blow the doors off that Prelude without any problem as that year Prelude is heavy and slow even with 200HP.

What magazine awards a car receives has little bearing on reality.
I fail to believe a SVT contour outhandles a prelude. I need to see some data to back that up.

Also, the SH only adds 88lbs of weight to the prelude. That's not a lot of weight.
