Room Mates of the Opposite Gender?

I had a very good platonic friend stay with me in a vacant room (one roommate moved out, and the one moving in paid for the month but finished up his lease elsewhere) for a month. Since we're good friends, it wasn't a big deal. I cooked for her once in a while, and she baked for me. And since baking > cooking, I think I win.

If you even THINK maybe/possibly sex, it's a bad, bad idea.
 
I had a female roommate once. 4 people in a 4 bedroom townhome. She was the worst roommate i've ever had. No regard for other people, disgusting and a PITA dealing with bills and household duties.
 
I can deal with the emotions, the whining, the bitching, and the general bullshit.

What I could not deal with was my shower looking like fucking Chewbacca had just used it every morning.

other roommates i had were all guys...i ended up having issues with all of them
 
Since you're a male, make sure that the chore schedule is outlined in advance. Since she's a female (This is by my own experience), she'll take advantage of you if you pick up after her and do most of the cleaning. I'm sure this is not true of all females but just of what I encountered. Believe it or not, women are pigs.

At most I lived with 4 at once. Best year of college I had, only bad time was one particular month they ALL of their periods synced up. I just stayed in my room.
 
1 year with female roommate => absolutely awesome.
She's nice, she likes to clean, she always smells nice, awesome about bills, I'd trust her with my life, etc.

Next year with same female roommate + her boyfriend (they share a room) => still pretty damn awesome.
She's the same, except slipping a little with the bills. But she's a poor grad student, and she pays me back eventually. The occasional loud sex is sometimes annoying, but usually I can only hear her so I can deal with it.
Boyfriend is likewise awesome, pretty clean, an amazing cook. Also a little slippage with the bills on his part... but I trust him and he pays me back eventually.


Hands down these are the best two roommates I have ever had, I can't possibly imagine having better roommates than these too.
