No doubt that there is, but drama in any form, is reason enough to avoid(like the plague) having any roommates.
Good luck to the OP, you're gonna need it.

This is called "making terroristic threats" and IS NOT a good idea, even if made in jest.
It could escalate into charges being filed against him.

This is ATOT and nothing is beyond being misconstrued here, imo.

God damn dude. Go file police reports for:

1. Mom slapping you (bitch slap is appropriate here)
2. Dad's BS threats.
3. The whole family stealing your stuff.

Oh btw, you're an idiot for living with such a psycho.

I would have had them arrested. That way you have a police report and can get an easy restraining order. I understand you don't want to escalate the situation, but it seems like that happened anyway.

Yeah, the more I hear of this story the more unanswered questions I have and the more confused I get...

Father threatens to "settle the score" with you? For what? What does he think you've done to his daughter? You float that out there but give no clue as to why he would say this. It just doesn't add up. I'm more convinced now than ever that you are leaving out some important details of this sordid affair.

Read all your update and I'm not at all unsympathetic, but:

There is obviously more to this story, and either you are leaving it out to keep from looking bad, or else you don't know.

However,

I would theorize that the girl had developed an obsessive relationship with you, and when you did not appear to reciprocate those feelings she had for you, and further when you spurned her feelings by bringing other girls over and having them spend the night, you have created a monster. With the unstable condition that you describe this girl as being in, I think it is fairly easy to spot two likely conclusions here:

Either...
1. The girl lost it after you told her to F off, and immediately called her mother and told her something along the lines of "he got really mad at me and hit me" or "he got really drunk and forced himself on me." You returned the next day and apologized, and she accepted your apology, but not before it was too late.

Or...
2. You really did either hit her or engage in some type of sexual activity with her. If the latter is correct, she may have wanted it at the time, but became so distraught after your fight that she took some of the truth and twisted it into something like rape.

The only two things I can think of that could possibly illicit this type of response from her parents would be physical or sexual abuse, either imagined or real.

Not saying you really did it, rather that I think you've been accused of something serious and are oblivious to it.

Those last two sound probable, and I'll go with the prior to give the OP some credit. The father's whole "even the score" thing would make a lot of sense if that was the case. Regardless, their family seems pretty unstable.

Move and ditch the friend. Friends come in go in college. I haven't talked to any of mine in years. Right now this is a big deal but in 5 years who cares. People flip with no warning sometimes. If you didn't do anything wrong then dropping this and moving on will be the best thing you can do for yourself and your friend. Her family obviously has issues. You don't need a lawyer. Let them sue. For what? Your router and dsl modem? But definitely move from your place. No reason to stay there. Bad carma.

That is so FVCKING bitching man.

Her mum saying that to you. You SHOULD NOT FEEL bad at all. She called you a piece of sh!t man. Tell her to step off.

And her dad that wouldn't scare me. I'd tell him to step off also and to not 'threaten you'. I'd go to the cops with that so they have IT ON FILE so if anything crops up you have it on file BEFORE something happens. I'd want to kick his ass if he started. W@nker. Mum's a b!tch also.

Where was your other room mate in all of this?

Well hope you sort all of this headache out dude.

They want me to file a restraining order against her and her family. Also it won't be the first for either the mother or the daughter.

Damn. And the drama just keeps going up. What city are you in? I want to check the papers over the next fwew days, look for home invasions, see if anything happened to ya.

You're doing an awesome job man. Carry a audio tape recorder around with you to catch whatever else they say and you're gold.

all that high tech stuff and you didnt record the father threatening you? if it was me I'd have a damn tape recorder on constantly when the mother was going off on you- even the sound of the hit could have been used as evidence.

other notes.. I too think the girl had an obsessive relationship with you- and bringing girls certainly didnt help.. I find if a girl likes you she'll act completely different to not let on- but by acting different you know something's up. if it happened in or around the time you brought a girl home chances are she's got a bubblegum shrine in the closet.. heh

It could escalate into charges being filed against him.

My buddy actually spent some time in jail on that charge.
He told a drunk neighbor who was causing trouble on his floor that if he didn't leave he would throw him down the stairs. The neighbor called the cops and accused him of making terroristic threats. My buddy being persian and a gun owner, police took it very seriously. He ended up settling for disturbance of peace.
