The option of moving out is definitely on the table. Just trying to figure out which path has the least resistance ;) If we move out, our rent will go up for sure, which isn't a plus but it might be a small price to pay to avoid a potential situation with this guy.

If you really fear for your safety and possible retaliation from the drug crew he hangs around, kicking him out and changing the locks won't do. You need to move out. What if he breaks in and kills your cat when you aren't home after you've kicked him out?

And worth every penny. Better to take the non-confrontational route, if he's as crazy as you make him sound.

With regards to moving costing more rent, I would be pretty upset if living in a drug den with a feces covered cat did not come with a discounted rate lol. If you don't want those things in your home it might cost more.

If you were in Chicago, I would have been able to help you out for a small fee. Unfortunately, I don't have any resources to my disposal in Nebraska.

What if he pays your gas money? It's a multiple hit job and Nebraska isn't that far. Also doing work that isn't local leaves a lot less traces back to you.

If roomie has threatened you in any way, open up a police report and tell ex-roomie that you did so.

He'll think twice about screwing with you in the future.

BTW, you did right by kicking him out. I would have done the same. I wouldn't put up with any of his shens either.

Kick his ass out, change the locks, and if he comes back shove a shotgun in his face. Problem solved.

It's not that simple. I don't have a infrastructure in place in Nebraska ATM. We don't do long distance. Too risky.

OK, well after your suggestions I've nixed the "change the locks" idea. I am not a lawyer, but I think he is technically in a lease...according to Nebraska law. We'll have to give him time to find a new place (30 days notice). The thing is, he sleeps at his parents house about 30 minutes away. So, hopefully, he won't have any issue just handing the keys back.

Take them on a road trip to Chicago ;)

In the mean time have someone else watch the cat so he doesn't abuse it further.

So, my plan is to change the locks on the house and tell him to return his keys.

Not sure why he would need to return any keys if you changed the locks?

You should setup some wireless surveillance in and outside of the house. If you can't afford that - then just tell him you have setup cams everywhere and are saving snapshots remotely.

Yeah, it doesn't matter so much anymore. If I change the locks on him I think I'd get in deep do-do. Just gonna talk to him casually about it and see where it goes. Hopefully he isn't on drugs when I talk to him. I'm sure he will be :\

Well if he's faded as shit he'll be less likely to kill you ;)

Thinking even more about this, I'm not sure how or why he'd have issue with us removing him from the house. He isn't ever there, anyways. But if he actually has ASPD like HAL mentioned (or whatever it is that he has), he might rationalize some reason why he needs to stay there, or whatever.

He takes Effexor. He doesn't always take it, though, because it gives him brain shivers and other side effects. I think he's really messed himself up with the combinatinon of underlying mental condition, clinically prescribed anti-depressants, and other drugs such as weed, hallucinogens, etc.

He'll have an issue if he thinks you guys are pushing him out. Tell him that you have a friend that wants his room. If he's not happy with that, offer to refund last month's rent. He'll be glad to have that money for more dope.

If someone did that to my cat he woudlnt be coming back to the house because he would be to busy getting medical attention at the hospital.

Move.

And yeah, the cat stuff is way over the top. I'm not sure exactly how I would have dealt with that, but it wouldn't have happened twice.
