Need a guy to apply and be turned down. Then sue for discrimination under the equal housing act, then you can just own their apartment and a few bucks when you win a huge judgement.

Owners who occupy can discriminate on gender. Only if they occupy however.

not a bad deal, as pasadena isn't exactly the slums. most rooms for rent in LA county will run you at least $500 + utilities.

Hm, so it's ok for a creepy old pervert to rent only to hot female co-ed's, but only if the creepy old pervert actually lives in the house with said co-ed.

Yeah, that's MUCH better.

You do realize, of course, that the renter is allowed to discriminate too. Why would a young girl choose to live with a creepy old guy?

Go play in traffic moron.

Seems like a basement unit. I guess if they put up a real wall, then there wouldn't be enough room for the twin size bed. The humidity after a shower could get pretty bad with no vent. Don't know what's going on with the curtain in front of the sink though..

Window as ventilation was expectable in old plumbing code.

$400 is the average going rate for a room around here. Thats pretty far outside Toronto too. Real-estate is so cheap in the US.

My one niggle is the lack of a private bathroom. A curtain? Seriously? My friend who lives in Fairfax VA is paying about that for a room. She has a private bathroom and communal kitchen in a basement apartment she shares with one other person.

$400 is average? that's cheap as fuck, dude. I think you're missing the point of this listing.

At first I was going to jump on the "my rent is cheaper than your rent" bandwagon, but then I stopped and realized that in some people's circumstances, something like that could be ideal (provided it was a little cheaper than just renting a room somewhere.) I was thinking that my son would love to find something like that near where he's at, particularly if he didn't have to sign a lease & could go month to month. Instead, he's got a YMCA membership so he can go work out (take showers) & lives in his (my) van, with his mattress in the back end, and goes over to the gas station near where he's parked when he has to use the bathroom. Lucky kid.

I would literally do that if I lived in a cooler area. South Texas makes that a no-go.

So no kitchen = fastfood/eat out all the time?

Look like this was a bathroom that became a room for rent.
