Congratulations, you show a continued ability to ignore the authoritarian anti democratic tendencies of the GQP, of which all their leading candidates have to subscribe to, of which desantis is one.

Hard for him to veer off script. Future PLC stock is up today.

Greenie : Cant speculate about the future cause it hasnt happened yet.

Ehm. Ok.
That's correct, it hasn't happened, which makes the story a fairy tail. If there is some actual concern about the request, that's a valid discussion. Wild speculation as a means of justifying a conclusion pulled out of one's ass isn't a discussion, it's a plea to be allowed to sit at the cool kids table.

So never use trends, data, history, or anything to look forward and be a little proactive versus be only reactive about everything, because it's always a fairy tale. Amazing logic. As always

I present to you.... Our resident dinosaur... just straddling around oblivious, waiting for the next big one to hit.

This is the way.

I fail to see how people do not realize the best solution to America's problems is to split the country in two. Let Florida and Texas lead the way and take the rest of the Deep South with them, plus other shithole states like the Dakotas, etc... Good riddance.

-I've honestly wondered how citizenship would work if it wasn't tied to dirt or a specific geographic boundary but to individuals instead. People can then shop around for the citizenship that best fits their needs with a constitution and laws that apply exclusively to them, and are administered specifically for them. Kind of like choosing an insurance carrier, but you choose your nationality/governance instead.

I know there are a lot of issues with this concept (the most obvious being how would laws interact if there was a conflict between Citizen of group A and Citizen of group B) but it would allow everyone to live by the rules, morals, and values to which they and others subscribe.

Pie in the sky, but just throwing it out there.

Your proof for Florida not proposing establishing a state guard is?
Florida would join the other 20+ states that currently have one. I guess California and New York have Gestapos? Your proof of it being a Gestapo? It amazes me when Liberals have the time to break from asking for your vaccination papers to accuse others of starting a Gestapo. I'm sure jerkoffs like you are praying for Australian style Covid camps to make their way to the US.

Your proof I called it a Gestapo? That would be actual fake news.

As for my earlier question to you I am glad we cleared it up and you agree the story about Ron forming a state guard is not fake news.

As for your last bit try to stay on topic. If you want to discuss how different countries approached COVID that would be a completely different subject so start a new thread.

When you create laws that make peaceful protesting illegal it is the gestapo.

Hilarious when people who are so desperate to smear someone do not do simple fact checking. This is used by over 20 states, including the most liberal of them all. There are them pesky facts again, ruining arguments.

Page 3 and you guys are still regurgitating the same thing, that's hilarious.

One more time, I'll even word it differently to help. Which of those Governors has given the rest of us any reason to worry? Name them, I'll verify, and if there is enough potential for caution I will add them to the list of those I feel shouldn't have their own personal police forces.

Now then.

If you can't see the danger here with De Santis, specifically given his imperious, unconstitutional behavior just in the last several years, well you're just doing what you always do - being another low information partisan sockpuppet. "Fact checking", being "desperate", puh-lease. Are you at all capable of forming your own argument anymore? Is there anything more to your opinion than simple regurgitation and projection? Help me out here. Some idiot who just joined is one thing, but you're old enough to care more about your argument. Please post something that doesn't indicate all you do is spew reheated Hannity, specifically what it is that this 200 man volunteer force offers Florida that state police, NG and FEMA do not.

Let's hear some 'pesky facts.' Take your time, consult with Tucker or find another troll to echo, I'll wait.

You failed to read my responses as to why DeSantis can't be trusted

No more "pesky facts" from cowards who support the party of insurrection and treason I guess. What a predictable shame.

DeSantis is Trump lite, Trump is a fascist. DeSantis shouldn't get his private state military.

Or he should, and how about they secede and take Texas and the rest of the red states with them. Praise Jesus!

Still no compelling argument from the fascism fans huh? Shocking, just shocking.

You pussies don't deserve this country.

For the fact that over 70 million Americans who voted for Trump have not uttered a single syllable of wonder or criticism of the numerous and growing number of anti-patriotic, un-American, unconstitutional, immoral, unethical, treasonous and seditious acts many of them and their Republican leaders have committed against the nation in the past and ongoing from Trump's pathetic term in office to this very day speaks to their approval of how they refuse to allow the democratic processes we all live by to run its course through history.

They've decided that they will violate the tenets of the Constitution and the Rule of Law in order to seize the reins of power because they feel they should be in control of the country despite the fact that they are the minority party of the nation.

Fascism is their only recourse. They have no other cards to play other than to allow the nation to run the way it has and should despite how their ideology has withered on the vine and fell in disfavor of the majority.

They've refused the option to recast their party into one of being inclusive and chose to be exclusive, isolationist and, sorry to say, racist. They've even used their religion to exclude others who see things a different way that's perfectly legal and protected by the same laws that protect their right to practice their own unique religious freedoms.

That sounds like a terrible idea. Like a close-relative of anarcho-capitalism. And would probably devolve into constant violent conflict between what would be in effect, rival criminal gangs, with their rival groups of 'enforcers' (police). Like a SF/fantasy based on Chicago in the days of Capone.

The "shopping around for citizenship" is also close to what I dislike about the EU - that it encourages people to 'shop around' for the country that gives them the best deal at any given stage of life. Though in that case you do at least have to phyiscally relocate to benefit from the new juristiction. Well-educated and earning a lot in your prime? Relocate to a low-tax, low-welfare country. Get seriously ill? Move back to a high-tax country with socialised health-care. Have kids who need a good education? Move to the country with a good tax-funded education system (that you haven't contributed to creating or paying for). Ultimately it is equivalent to moving back to a situation where there's no state-regulation of competition between people at all. It's why the EU still seems to me to be a fundamentally right-wing concept.

It's also vaguely similar to the system that I've heard actually prevails in India, where things like divorce-law are different depending on which religious group you are a member of. From what I've seen there's some grumbling about that (as I understand it, divorced Hindu guys have to pay alimony, Muslims do not - though I might have that wrong), and it clearly encourages religious division between groups.

I had thought about moving to Florida because I like the warm weather and it would be nice to live in a state with no state income tax just in case you won the lottery or you were in a high income bracket and wanted to keep a little bit more of your hard earned money. With Dipshit as governor I think I will pass.
Great place for deadbeats also. You get to keep all kinds of stuff in a bankruptcy.

I think you need to get outside a bit more, interact with the world some, and stop watching the news all day.

That statement may be hyperbolic, but it's not that far off. The Republican party is still hitching itself to Trump despite his not only losing an election, but inciting an insurrectionist riot. The party is using overt voter suppression strategies that could effectively erase functional democracy. Often, GOP policies amount to just opposing whatever Democrats want, and in some cases are designed to be willfully cruel (like anti-abortion, anti-mask and anti-LGBT legislation).

Those aren't controversial claims — they're easily verifiable, and those approaches have done tangible damage to the political discourse and society at large. If you aren't at least somewhat worried, you aren't paying attention.
