Maybe he had his dates wrong, or he was CEO in name only but was not actually doing anything (but getting paid well anyway). I personally do not remember the year I left each of my jobs I have had.

I am pretty sure that he would remember leaving somewhere like Bain, I mean, he wasn't there flipping burgers. I remember the minute I was officially discharged from the Army and drove off base to the airport.

Pretty troubling that Romney would claim he left Bain in 1999 and actually left years later. It's like GT coach O'Leary claiming a doctorate on his resume. Romney must just be dumb to think this sort of stuff won't be noticed.

Cybrsage may be correct that he remained on the board in name only, so he may be thinking that when he stopped working there versus when his name came of the shareholders list.

I was just shotgunning potential items.

CEO status is his normal job role. This is just one of many he has had. If you routinely left the Army, rejoined, left again, you might not remember every single one of them.
I bet he was just playing a semantics game. He 'left' Bain for the olympics. Nevermind that he returned when he was done. He was asked when he left, not when he left for good. ;)

This is all correct but for some reason matt thinks they are all lies.

Not really. Atleast not as much as you think they are all just things he tried and failed at. He has the power to pull the plug on Iraq but chose not to untill much later. I can see why people would excuse that. The ones he cannot get a free pass on are earmarks, lobbyists in his administration, let the people read each bill for 5 days before he signs it, raising taxes and he hasn't even come close to submitting a budget that cuts the deficit. The list is much longer but that is all I care to type for now.

Hmmm ... who on this board does that sound EXACTLY like? I wonder ...

What is this 'let the people read each bill for 5 days before he signs it' stuff? Aren't bills posted on opencongress long before they reach his desk? What does waiting another 5 days accomplish?

How about we stick to the article in the OP instead of playing the pointing blame game?

Yes all politicians lie. We get it. Lets move past that and figure out why he is lying about his time at Bain.

Why cant you people just talk about the topic instead of playing deflection game all day long. Does the truth really hurt your little partisan hack egos that much?

Ask Obama what is accomplishes. He made the promise. Easy one to keep, all he has to do is wait to sign them. He did say he would not wait for things that were of emergency nature - then claimed the ACA was such a thing...and almost every other bill he has received has been classified as emergency bills so he does not have to wait to sign them.

No let's not. The OP is trying to frame the debate in the most retarded and inane way. This thread deserves to be crapped all over and ignored.

Yeah, they were definately not all lies...I think he honestly tried to fulfill some of them, but also had no intention of ever trying to fulfill others.

Growing up to be an astronaut? Hah...

Wright was more like sitting through many years of hateful racist rhetoric, nodding your head, and then once your caught you say 'that's not the man I knew!".

Sorry, wasn't hateful or racist. Just because the right wing tries to frame an argument against someone, doesn't make what they say true.

Additionally, it is a FACT that Romney worked at Bain til 2002. He said he didn't... That is a lie based on facts.

A handful of people not liking Obama's pastor has nothing to do with lying.

Because it pretty much got summed up in one word "SO?"

While we are at let's talk about Pelosi’s financial disclosure statement. She received between $1 million and $5 million in partnership income from ”Matthews International Capital Management LLC,” a group that emphasizes that it has a “A Singular Focus on Investing in Asia.” A quick trip to the company website reveals a featured post extolling the virtues of outsourcing. …

Pelosi is also a small investor in the embattled “Moduslink Global,” one of the “outsourcing pioneers” that Mitt Romney has been criticized for associating with while at Bain Capital.

The better question is how did Romney find time to run Bain between managing the 2002 Winter Olympics and running for governor of Massachusetts in 2002?

This is why I am heavily leaning towards him being CEO in name only. It is like putting a famous person on your board - they do nothing for the company but their name helps get people to invest in the company.
