Romney on '47 percent': I was 'completely wrong'

That may be true but that's not what he said. He said that the 47% who don't pay income tax (federal) are leeches on welfare, etc. etc. Just because people don't pay federal taxes does not mean that they are on welfare. They fall below the income tax line but don't confuse the two.

By the way, the 47% who don't pay taxes are not going to get anything from Romney's tax cuts anyway unless he removes their deductions, which, in that case, might cause them to pay taxes (i.e. tax hike).

We have gotten to the point that we have cut taxes so much, in an effort to keep people and economy moving along, that nearly 50% don't pay federal income tax now. We have subsidized these people with tax cuts, tax credits, and credit (from banks) in the face of decade + of declining wages from pressures of offshoring and cheap global slave labor. It's only going to get worse unless we fix the job situation with real jobs that make stuff and pay good wages. Otherwise, we're just pissing in the wind and it's blowing right back into our faces.

I don't like the guy but it is possiable he was thinking of 47 million people on food stamps . I don't know / I wouldn't think he would knowingly say that because the fact would come . IF your running for pres.

How the hell would someone confuse 47 million with 47 percent? They aren't even close to being the same thing.

Not possible since the next day Romney claimed he was making a political argument and doubled down. This was before he disavowed his comment.
