That list sucks.
Al Di Meola would be considered a Jazz Guitarist
Title of article is "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".....doesn't specify genre. Besides, some of his electric fusion craziness barely qualifies as jazz.

this is a joke right?... right?

Must be, he's easily the worst guitarist that's ever recorded.

82 David Gilmour of Pink Floyd
Again....WTF is that all about?

I agree with David Gilmour, WTF

But Jack White, while maybe not 17 worthy, he is one talented mofo (too bad Meg White isn't)

as a drummer i can say with a pretty severe certainty that meg white is a disgrace to all drummers anywhere.

they should take #75 adam jones and put him where #17 jack white is.

What I don't understand is why they pretty much just kept to 'rock' guitarists but then put BB King at #3. Granted, I LOVE BB King and realize his electric blues style had a major influence on a lot of people in the rock world. But he's not a rock guitarist by any stretch of the imagination. You might as well throw in Chet Atkins in that list in that case. For every great guitarist you put on any list there's going to be hundreds of lesser knowns who are agruably just as good if not better.

This is a friggin' popularity contest, what a joke.
No adrian smith, dave murray, janick gers, steve vai gary hoey, yngwie malmsteen, that rush dude mentioned earlier (don't remember his name).

Having seen him play in person, I can tell you that he is definitely one of the top 100.

Grr... this list is even more bullsh!t than I originally thought....

Add Robert Fripp (King Crimson) to that list. What a crock of steaming doo.

Its kinda hard to say what criteria makes a gitarist "the best" Is it popularity or album sales or what? Nirvana was great but to put them ahead of the likes of Randy Rhoads or Eddie Van Halen is a joke. Alex Lifeson was not even mentioned but The White Stripes get on the list??!! Come on.

It doesn't? BTW, have you ever heard the Duet (actually threesome) of him, Paco De Lucia and John McGloughlin doing Medterranian Sundance of the Gypsy Soul Album (De Lucia and McGloughlin alsoare better than most of those mentioned)

Mmmm....maybe the bassist, but the two guitarists are really pretty vanilla for the most part. I've been a big IM fan since I was a kid, but don't consider them to be guitar gods at all.

Yup. Good stuff. I got into Meola when I bought Cielo e Terra years ago totally on a whim.

Forgot about Malmsteen. He should definitely be on that list.
