Yeah agreed, I think an Obi-Wan movie with McGregor would be way better than a Boba Fett movie. I feel odd in that I was never obsessed with Boba Fett (AND HOW COOL HE IS) like everyone else seems to be.

I loved Fett (and Han for that matter). But what made them awesome is the mystery behind their obviously quite colorful past. No matter what story is written it is NEVER going to live up to the mystique that has been built up around them. Some things are better left untouched.

So, it is a stand alone film in the Star Wars universe, without any crossover characters to the Star Wars saga that is supposed to take place just before A New Hope.

With this model there will never be an end. My great great grandkids will be watching Star Wars movies.

The rebel leader (Mon Mothma) was in the first Star Wars movie, and the character shows up in the Clone Wars and Rebels tv series.

Looks great!

As a side note: between TFA, this and the Aftermath book anyone else notice they seem to be on a 'Female lead character' kick lately?

This could be the first in a series of trailers focused on each team member. It could also be Kathleen Kennedy's influence now that she's running things, but I dont think it matters all that much. As long as they are good characters and acted well the movies will be fine. I'll be happy when we get a good SW villain again.

BTW, the trailer looks great. Forrest Whitaker and Donnie Yen!

I hope Vader is in it. James Earl Jones is voicing the role in Rebels so he would almost assuredly do it for a movie. Though I hope they would not spoil such a plot point in the trailer and leave it as a surprise in the movie. (fat chance)

Looks good, I'm excited
I do have to say in the first few seconds the girl looked handcuffed but still had her blaster at her side?
Plus the major weapons test. Does the Empire need a weapon that's more major than their last weapon?

I do not see a problem with that. 😀

Huh? This is the construction of the 1st Death Star (the one in EP4) So they are testing it out for the very first time.

Pretty sure the rumor is that he will be in it. Seems almost impossible to have the story line and the timeframe without him. May not be THE main bad guy, but seems like he'd have to be involved in some level. The Death Star was Tarkin's baby so he will be the main "bad guy" in this one I think.

Minimal Sith though of course for obvious reasons.

Rebels touched on this as well, in one episode they arrive at Geonosis just after the first stage of the Death Stars construction is completed. The show and this movie will practically be in the same timeline. Would be interesting if a character from Rebels made a cameo.

Considering it appears to be about stealing death star plans I hope we see a lot of bothans die. I always wondered exactly how many did.

i think that was for the second death star... in Return of the Jedi. This Rogue One is set before a New Hope and is the plans Leia gives to R2D2

I'm guessing the squad has great success getting the plans and dispatching stormtroopers but just as it looks like the plan went down without a hitch Vader shows up and wastes them all. The last 10 minutes is basically the squad attempting to hold out against an impossible opponent while the data transmits to leia's ambassador ship, completing just as female lead gets run through with his light saber or something.
