Oh if only MAGAs' feels and conspiracy theories could be evidence in court, then everybody who isn't them would be in prison.

It seems unlikely that Roger will be locked up while appeals are in progress. I wouldn't get too excited about him ever being locked up because it will take a while to get to the end & Trump is likely to pardon him after the election.
 
If Trump pardons Stone, I wonder who will have the most regrets and hindsight out of all the associates who have been convicted? I'd say probably Michael Cohen.

Why are we okay with this? Not just the pardoning part, but the part where he will not go to jail until he has exhausted his appeals? This is the sort of thing that ONLY happens if you are both wealthy and white. Everyone else sits in jail until their appeals. We should be tearing the courthouse down over this.

Cohen had some state charges if I remember correctly. Pardon would help but not keep him free.

Of course he will. Manafort, too. And Flynn, of course. They'll be alt-right heroes, like Ollie North & G Gordon Liddy. Win or lose the election Trump will suffer no consequences for pardoning his friends who stay strong. If he wins he'll be able to get away with anything & if he loses it'll be Fuck You Libtards all through the lame duck period.

If he doesn't it is because he really is such an ass that even doing something as simple as signing a form to help out his people that literally went to prison for him is more then he is willing to do if he gets nothing out of it.

It is kind of a strange situation, I think on one hand that pardoning them is an abuse of power, but since he has not shown any reluctance to abuse that power to not pardon them is just being a jackass.

He got their silence & the way to keep it is to pardon them. There's no percentage in turning rat at that point unless it's just to clear your conscience, something these guys lost or never had.

If he does then Stone is still a criminal and there are adverse consequences. He cannot get a government... anything, and I'm not sure that Trump could give him a top secret security clearance which would be contrary to law. I'm not sure a pardon would hold if it went to the SCOTUS as this may play a part in the impeachment as a whole. We'd have two "absolute" rights in conflict, the power of pardon and the impeachment and possible removal of a President which would be undermined by a guarantee of freedom for lying under oath. Anything could be done and forgiven if that were permitted. Even this Court would likely not eliminate the possibility of conviction by egregious crimes done to protect the Officeholder.

I doubt that. It didn't happen when Nixon pardoned a bunch of people that were a part of his impeachment.
Trump is not going to pardon anyone before the impeachment thing is over, it will be after, and if Trump is impeached it will be Pence that actually signs the forms, and one of them will have Trump's name on it.

Liddy et al may have viewed things differently and there wasn't a challenge in any case because Nixon quit first.

I don't think Nixon pardoned any of the Watergate perps. I think you're confusing that with GHWB's pardons for Iran-Contra figures, one of Bill Barr's infamous accomplishments.
 
Given that he repeatedly flouted the judge's orders before trial I'm astonished that the judge didn't immediately remand him to custody (like was done with Manafort) immediately upon the verdict instead of releasing him until sentencing. He's going to appeal this for no other reason than delay and if Trump gets re-elected he will pardon Stone immediately-as part of the process of winding up and destroying the USA.

That path (re-election and pardon) is Stone's only hope. No way the DOJ will cut a deal with him now even if he offers it-he is such a repeated and proven liar he will have absolutely no credibility as a witness (unless he has recordings).
