Digital or not I dont care. Lower resolution is lower resolution. And as far as I know, the digital film is lossy compressed, which will make it look even worse.

The transfer to DVD will likely be better than any film transfer to DVD, but that doesnt take away from the fact that no matter how you look at it, lower resolution is the absolute worst thing. Hell, its still at 24fps. Couldnt they at least have made it 60fps?

have you seen digital projection technology? if not you should just be quiet!!!!!:disgust:

The good thing about Star Wars Movies is that you know at any given point of time there are groups of no life losers assembled watching a sh!tty movie in case you want to rid the world of useless individuals. Hey I'm just kidding.. or maybe not??!?

or maybe your just some old geezer that wants to start a war without ever seeing a Ep2? Some of you naysayers are just pathetic!:|

It doesnt matter if I've seen it or not. Like I said, no matter how you want to look at it, lower resolution is lower resolution. I'd imagine digital projectors to have many advantages, less grainy, no need for bulky, expensive film, post-processing etc... But if theyre going to half the resolution, whats the point? I would rather see that money thrown at better film projectors.

I dont know where you got it in your head that digital is automatically better than analog, because its not. In fact, it appears that digital technology is going to benefit the studios, not the people. They will save millions not having to print up film, they can get away with sending out DVDs or tapes to the theaters. They wont have to pay for film to even shoot it. And it will make it a million times easier for them not to have to scan anything to edit.

What do movie goers get? Apparently lower resolution, so they can save on disk space and processing time. Sh*t, why dont they just interlace it and compress it at a ridiculous bitrate so they wont even have to burn DVDs, they can send good old burned CDs to the theaters.

When I see AOTC, I'm going to be sure to see it in a digital theater. But if its not even up to HDTV standards (numbers dont lie), why should I even bother going to the theater at all? Please someone tell me that this resolution is not to be the standard to which all digital movies will be held!

I guess if anything good will come out of digital theaters, it will probably make it a million times easier to pirate movies.

I saw the movie and I hated it. Everything Ebert said about the movie was pretty much true. The whole thing was a boring let down.

But thats just my opinion...

Ditto. I can't remember the last movie I fell asleep while watching. It happened last night while watching Episode II. I didn't have huge expectations, but I was expecting it to be better than episode I. By the time the movie got interesting (1 hr 25 mins after starting it) I just didn't care anymore.

I just watched the Attack of the Clones "Across the Stars" music video.

Wow.

This movie CANNOT suck from what I saw there. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE, unless he took away all those scenes and added fscking Kermit. Even if they spend anhour on romance, it will STILL rock...the music is incredible, with an amazing feel and touch from John Williams...he makes it SOUND just like it's almost telling a story, like he's saying it's a forbidden romance or cursed story of some kind, sad, and emotional. I'm not one who tried to find 'meanings' in music but this just STICKS OUT for me.

I will see it, several times I'm sure, and I will love it. It will be better than Episode I, though will be a bit less exciting than Episode III. Those are already a given to me, as I have made up my mind. :)

For all you naysaysers who hated Episode I, watched Episode II on a tiny screen/way low res with ultra crappy quality and lame sound, go away and stop raining on my party. I'm gong to like it and no need not try to spoil it for me.

I think the movie rocks (Episode I, haven't seen the second yet). It's very, very well made. A really high quality movie, IMO. I enjoyed every minute of it.

What I hate about "ATTACK OF THE CLONES!"

spoilers:

I hate the way Lucas writes dialogue... I don't know what got into him, but he inserts the title of the film into the dialogue...:(

Such as:

Windu: "What is our next course of action then?"
Yoda: "Prepare we must... Prepare for the 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES.'"

and

Obi-Wan: "Anikin! Why will you not listen to what I tell you to do???"
Anikin: "I do listen master... but something in the force tells me that the 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES' will be a bigger problem yet...."

and

Count Dooku: "You will not be able to withstand the 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES', young Padawan..."
Anikin: "Yes we will! The 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES' won't stop the Jedi from prevailing!
Obi-Wan "He's right - the 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES' won't stop us!"
Count Dooku: "So, you believe that the 'ATTACK OF THE CLONES' is due to fail???"

Lucas sucks....

Ha! My thoughts exactly! The movie took so long for something good to happen, that by the time it did everyone who was watching it had stopped caring. I was busy finding food, my dad was reading, and my mom had fallen asleep. The end was snazzy, but not enought to save the movie.

Occasionally, I disagree with Ebert, as was the case with his positive review of "The Thin Red Line". But I think he's usually spot on with all of the blockbuster, enormous budget, made for the masses type movies. I thought Episode 1 was a wonderful visual experience, but as a movie kind of sucked.

And that, my friends, is why Lucas will probably never make another good movie. As long as the fanatics line up like communists in a bread line, he will continue to produce crap because the box office numbers are still good.

Despite some claiming that he has had an epiphany since Episode I, the fact is that in multiple interviews he has never expressed disappointment with it. He instead continues to maintain that Episode I was a hit at the box office, so it must have been spectacular.

Continue to support bad movies if you wish, but in the end it will be self-defeating.

So you're telling me that if I don't support Lucas, he won't make more movies, right?

Sorry, but I like Star Wars. You may not be a big fan of it, but I am. I will support him as long as he makes Star Wars movies because it is a great story, and better than 99% of the pure SHlT being put out there by Hollywood. It is a great story with great special effects and a few flaws.

No it isn't

Yes it is.

Name 3 movies(how many new Star Wars movies there are/will be) that are better in special effects, cooler/more interesting to the general audience/more exciting story, better actors, and appealing to a huge amount of people that are say, and the movies must be 10 years old at the most, or less.

EDITED: for clarification

Bah, he's just talking out of his old, dust-covered ass yet again, trying to rile up the fans.

I've noticed he's been slipping lately.

Father Time taking his toll on you Red? :p

Because?

... or are you just antagonizing Maul again?
Because at least 50% of the movies released to the theaters have decent acting and decernable dialogue. Episode 1 was a waste of 2 hours. It shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the 3 previous Star Wars Movies.
