it was always intended to be a series of movies, sooo...
they usually don't make sequels to sh*tty movies. im not saying that ep1 was good or bad, but "intending" for a movie to have a sequel doesnt at all guarantee it

If Phantom Menace was the first Star Wars released, Im sure there would have been a sequel. I know many people (under the age of 20) who got into Star Wars because of the Phantom Menace. Its superior to A New Hope in every single way you can judge a movie, and it perfectly sets up a sequel.

I don't see your qualification of fan boys seeing this movie "multiple times", nor even as much as an implication. Perhaps it would do wonders for your arguments if you learned to put into words what it is you're trying to say, eh?

And I quote myself:

"And that, my friends, is why Lucas will probably never make another good movie. As long as the fanatics line up like communists in a bread line, he will continue to produce crap because the box office numbers are still good."

Check earlier in the thread genius, because I did put it into words. Like I said, I don't expect you to know every thing I've said, but since you obviously don't why not quit pretending that you do? You can't win an argument when you don't even know the position of the person you're arguing with. I'm sure this will just spawn another reply from you along the lines of "LOL I don't have time to read all your drivel blah blah blah" but the fact is if you haven't read my 'drivel' then quite frankly you don't know enough to prevent making an ass of yourself as you did above.

I'm critical of your statements from this thread. Don't delude yourself into thinking that you rate the effort to scour this forum in search of your previous drivel. LOL, as if.

See above. You're critical of my statements in this thread yet you didn't even know what they were. Nice trick, Houdini.

Nope, instead it employed the use of such comic ingenuity as a sophisiticated R2 robot that makes on the fly repairs to damaged spacecraft yet mistook power coupling for a network interface.

Right. That's just as juvenile as gas and stool humor. You've won me over.

Again, you base your assumption on your particular taste, not the facts. Episode 1 was a fine movie, and it's box office numbers reflect it's appeal to a wide audience. You can shout "its crap, its crap", but the numbers speak for themselves. Again, it's slightly presumptious to believe that your vision of what the Star Wars saga should be is superior to that of Lucas'.

Episode I was a fine movie, eh? Well believe what you will. A lot of people disagree, and box office numbers alone don't affect my personal evaluation of a movie. That doesn't mean that they are right but it doesn't mean that you are right either. I believe you are presumptuous in assuming that Lucas is somehow godly and could never make a bad movie, therefore anyone who doesn't like his material must be a Lucas hater.

Anyway, quite frankly I really don't care enough about the movie to continue this pointless discussion with you. Continue replying as much as you'd like, but I'm going to just ignore your comments. Since neither you nor Lucas are ever wrong, it's pointless continuing this discussion with you. Lucas would be proud of you.

Ain't that the truth!
Trekkies know that their fandom is an oddity. Star Wars fans believe that everyone should like everything even remotely Star Wars related, even when it sucks.

And Hendrixfan, just drop the crack pipe, mmm'kay? The Phantom Menace isn't even in A New Hope's league.

On another note, I want a Captain Pike wheelchair with yes/no beeper.

i dunno, it just seems like theres more reason to be a startrek fan:p theres atleast 4 tv series, there are a ton of movies and books. all star wars had were 3 movies with a huge gap before the series started up again, and then a bunch of books:p yes i know there are going to be 6 total in the end but thats where it will end says lucas. star trek never ends:)
