Pfft.. I'd punch one right in the head and knock that bitch out before he could even touch me.

As I said, if you decide to go scorched earth on the creature, you should be able to win. I don't really see any point of pride in that. A human would have to outweigh it 5:1 even if if the human was a REALLY small adult. They don't really attack unless you're invading what they "consider" to be their territory. As the "brainy" ones, I figure humans should be able to avoid the conflict most of the time. Otherwise, can't we all just, you know, get along?

In my case, I was riding my new CBX in a beautiful suburb of Philly past a fantastic pond that attracted geese (and other wildlife) almost 30 years ago. A guy in a Porsche coming from the opposite direction veered suddenly into my lane to avoid some Cans who were promenading across the road. (The dork could have just stopped -- like everybody else did.) I had a choice. Veer right into a rock wall, hit Mr. Porsche headon, run over the geese in the left lane, or go through the fence on the left around the pond. I took the fence. Unfortunately the wet grass beyond the fence didn't give me any purchase for slowing down. I went between a gander and his mate, who was sheltering their goslings. They were NOT amused.

They took to the air and beat the hell out of me with their wings while I was wrestling a 600 lb. motorcyle in an attempt to avoid the pond and keep upright. I've had better times. But I didn't retaliate against them. I had intruded upon them, and they were doing what they do naturally -- defend themselves.

My opinion is that they are beautiful creatures. (Yeah, I'm a damned tree hugger.) I do my dead level best to let them have their way. I used to own a house with pool that was frequented by Mallards and Canada geese. Yeah, they crap a lot. And you have to inconvenience yourself a little to keep from bothering them. I long since sold the house. The only thing I miss about that place is the ducks and geese. Heh.

Condo living, FTW.

Subject: Wild Turkeys in parking lot

Team,

The turkeys are back again this year. They typically go away in about 2 weeks unless someone feeds them. As a reminder, for your safety, please do not feed or try to pet them. If they are preventing you from accessing the building or your car, please do not attempt to scare them off yourself?these are wild animals and may attack if provoked. Please contact Eddie for assistance if you need help in accessing either the building or your car.

Thanks,

rofl, i saw them yesterday.. like 6 of them just chillin in the grass. what's funny is that this is a rather densely populated town just 20 mins north of Boston.

For a good time, dial 555-0U81, ---- ask for Eddie

We have Canadian geese here, they build nests in the parking lot and will chase you sometimes. They hiss at me when I walk into work, I want to break their stupid hooked necks when they do that. Not to meniton all the goose shit.

Dude, do you work with me? There's one that built a nest in our parking lot, that thing locks onto you w/ its beak and generally makes you feel uncomfortable walking by

Haha, we had a nesting pair that took up residence in the bushes next to the sidewalk leading into the entrance of our building coming from the employee lot. The attacks got so bad, management put up barricades and caution tape, with computer-printed signs that said in giant letters "CAUTION: GEESE NESTING AND WILL ATTACK" with a clip-art picture of a goose. Of course, some people (mostly contractors and such who weren't familiar with the situation) would walk past them anyway, and promptly get attacked by these monsters.

The best part was, this sidewalk was right outside one of the offices. Someone in there actually took video of the attacks and sent it out as an email forward. It's short, but the best part of the clip is a guy dropping a shitload of papers when the goose charges him.

I don't have the vid on this computer, or else I'd post it. I'll email it to myself and post it tomorrow after work. Stay tuned!
