you guys should've seen him talk at one of the facebook conferences. he is sooooooooo horrible and makes me wanna smack him.
i hope facebook holds out long enough to fail like friendster. idiots, i would've sold out by now.

You guys are all bashing him for his lack of talent in coding but he really succeeded in viral marketing and getting his site out, show me some good coding monkeys who attracted a million users.

Maybe he's not an expert coder (again, he's what, 23? 24?) but his site is a billion times better than MySpace in that respect.

I think people are being too hard on the kid. I'm 24, and it's very hard to imagine being in his position at this point in my life. Would I make some bad decisions? Yeah, most definitely. I think everyone at that age and experience level would. Easy to talk shit about the guy when you aren't in his shoes.

And people are ragging on him cause he wears sandals to work? Who gives a fuck? I guess some people have nothing better to do than pick apart others. Though the thing about him not being able to do a 8 am conference call with Microsoft because "he would be asleep" is pretty dumb.

I just watched the interview it's television. I find it quite disrespectful the kind of questions they ask him. You buy things? They of course edit out what they want and piece things together on what they want to make it look. I think the majority of the issue comes from the fact that no one can stand to see a 23 yo so rich and prosperous. Which is not the case of the interviewer. I also feel that someone so young who has obtained that kind of recognition should be repsected greatly. A lot of people don't accomplish such feats for most of their lives. Even due to his young age he is smarter then most so STFU..........

Agree.

He may seem very awkward, but you can tell he's taking the time to choose some words carefully and that some things she is asking are a bit "WTF?" to him. All in all I think it was a pretty good segment.

SRSLY

He seems just like a regular guy abit somewhat dorky whos not letting all this get to his head.

People need to chill out with teh jealousy its out of control.

1. Very smart people, quite often, lack common sense.
2. He is also a computer geek, which means he has no social skills OFF the computer.

I saw only a fraction of the interview, but you have to give him credit for the idea and implementation of it. He is going to be, at the least, a millionaire even if this does effect his company and reputation.

Whether or not he came across well, he is a winner. (And will have a big boat with scantily clad women doing jello shots on it. Eat your hearts out.)

I do slighly agree he came off a little unprofessional and maybe a little young. But what do you expect he a 23 yo billionare. I would of been a little more professional about setting up my office and dressing a little more professional. But who am I. I never rose to his potential therefore I'm talking about of my ass.

Sure, he implemented it, but it's pretty clear that he flat out stole the entire concept of Facebook.

Capitalism is independent of creativity. When you can improve on an idea and make money off it, who cares who originally thought it up? That's all today's society is, finding the flaws in one person's idea or creation and making it better. Any business is a clone or copy of someone else's business or idea. That's all competition is. Seriously, give me a break. That's all anyone's business is.

He's realllllly awkward. Reminded me of the spelling bee kid when he just sat there and didn't answer the question for a few seconds.

didn't catch this, i'll have to watch it later. too bad the kid isn't an AT member though. i'd enjoy the flamewar between him & the haters.

IIRC, Windows wasn't orginial from Gates and company but they make it work and make them billions.

I didn't see the interview but he made it big, good for him.

Edit: beside Facebook and Myspace, what are other popular network sites?

<<---way behind the time on network sites.

I never said it was wrong. In fact, I completely support what he did. I even agreed that his implementation was solid. However, I'm not giving him credit for an idea that wasn't his.

Yeah, I don't know how anyone could ever pass on a 1.3 billion dollar offer for anything. It's not like you ever have to do anything ever again with that much in the bank. I couldn't spend the interest if I tried.

Sure, I couldn't spend 1.3 billion either...but it seems to have paid off that he didn't. Microsoft gave him $240 million for 1.6% of the company! Seems like the right decision to me.

Ambitious, lucky motherfucker. Hell yeah I'm jealous. He stole an idea, stole the framework for implementation and just fleshed it out. Now he's worth millions. Even if he flops like friendster, he still got an insurance payout from Microsoft.

I'm real wary of facebook's privacy policy. What pisses me off more than anything about Zuckerberg is that he's so private, yet anything you post on facebook becomes its asset and the fact that facebook merely deactivates accounts and doesn't cancel them.
