I love those episodes. (I hope my Tivo got it.) One of my all-time favorites is the Clinton-Dole Haloween segment with Kodos and Kang.

Wow, very liberal.

Don't confuse liberal with true.

Really? The government is throwing people who criticize it into Alcatraz?

This is the most partisan I have ever seen the Simpsons be. It was sad and stupid. The lead into the story was especially painful to watch because it was so freaking stupid... and that was apolitical.

I found it side-splitting, including the buildup to the main story. Dr Hibbard's elaborate schemes to innoculate Bart, including the Mission Impossible-style use of masks, was hilarious, as were many of Bart's misadvantures while deaf (in particular I loved Homer's blasting him with the air horn). I thought the episode as a whole was brilliant, and easily the best in a long time.

I found the Dr Hibbard skit to be painful to watch and over-kill. The joke died long before the skit did.

And is it just me, or has the show sunk to the lowest common denominator? They no longer have inside, vague jokes but prcatically explain everything to you as if they are catering to the stupidest among us. Not only that, but they repeat the damn punchlines over and over and over ala Mike Myers... until you feel like strangling them.

It ain't what it used to be. Not by a long shot.

They are wrong. America (technically) lost the war of 1812.

I thought it was a bit too political. I especially thought they could have done without Moore and the Dixie Chicks in the jail. For the most part, it was decent though.

Amused, you are probably one of the most closed-minded conservatives on the ATOT boards. If something is just the tad bit leaning to the left, you automatically discount it as partisan. What's wrong with something *gasp* POLITICAL on the Simpsons? Has this become such a dirty word as to be swept under the table in American society? We put up with right-wing nutjobs like O'Reily and Hannity on Faux News, so don't you think its only fair to let The Simpsons have a jab at the right?

I'm definitely in the minority. I thought it was watchable and I think I chuckled once or twice. I like the first half of the episode that dealt with the shots and barts deafness. Not one of the better shows.

what is the episode where homer keeps saying "like erkel!" (the guy from family matters)
It's the episode where Homer gets really drunk, sees the alien (Mr. Burns) in the woods and the XFiles investigate.

While Amused may be a little harsh on his criticism, don't even try to equate O'Reilly and Hannity to the like of Jennings, Moore, Frankin, Brokaw, Rather, King et al.

For your info, I don't like O'Reilly or Hannity and I'm not conservative... not by a long shot.

Repeat after me: "Just because someone is not liberal and despises liberal (read: socialistic) idealism does NOT mean they are "conservative.""

I disagree with conservatives as often as I do liberals. It is not my fault that all you take issue with is my anti-socialist posts on a message board flooded with liberal college students.

The Simpsons used to take a very balanced jab at both sides. This was a huge departure from that.

Hey, I'm not trying to flame man but the Simpsons have always been known s a liberal t.v. show... Always... They may take mainstream/centrist views at times but the show sides with the left far often than it sides with the right.
