Not to derail the thread too much, but the GOP feels super liberated now to cross off all the items on their bucket list:
I mean, yeah. I'll just drop this off here, yet again.I'm not a lawyer by trade, but could liberal states sue the federal government and drop out from having to fork over cash to poor red states?
Isn't Oregon mostly a GOP shithole outside of Portland and Beaver Town?
I just had to chime in on what Laura Ingraham said on Fox news tonight.
Ingraham actually said that women are "too smart" to decide what is best for their body. Women are "too smart" make decisions addressing their own healthcare, their own well being.
Women are too smart to know what is best for their reproductive rights..
Try to wrap you mind around THAT if you can.
And so, according to Laura Ingraham speaking on her Fox show, it takes a man to make those decisions for a woman since a woman can not make those decisions because women are too smart.
You know why women across the country are outraged over this Trump supreme court?
Because women across the country have the right to be outraged over this Trump supreme court despite what Laura Ingraham thinks.
Gee, and Ingranam looks so convincing... for a man.
I know it's not really the point, but am I seeing this right? Do those really just lift straight upward? Not a very good barrier for a mob if so.

Fuck yeah!...
Edit: I don't remember, but are we allowed to curse?
So every member of Congress can just go home. The SC can legislate from the bench. Congress can just meet to decide on budget or war. It's definitely time to end the filibuster or we'll have minority rules forever.
Ooh, now we’re up to three generations.Gotta say...this plus the push to end public schools (guess that will happen this decade too) has me second guessing if even 2-3 generations from now will be able to pull out of this. Once the schools are fully privatized, they can indoctrinate at will from a young age.
So they control the highest court, most/all levers of govt and then the schools.
This is what some would call a permanent victory.
Senate is free to enact any laws they see fit (that passes veto muster). SC can't 'decide' to make abortion illegal if senate literally enshrines it into law/constitution.Would an end to the filibuster even matter? This SCOTUS is basically in charge and would strike down whatever they want.
I think you’re underestimating SCOTUS. If the senate passed a law to protect abortion rights it’s entirely possible SCOTUS would strike it down saying it intrudes on state sovereignty or whatever.Senate is free to enact any laws they see fit (that passes veto muster). By next week you’re going to be like ‘this Republican statement on Tucker Carlson Tonight shows the republicans shall rule for 3,500 years as did as god emperor Leto II Atreides’.
Seems people hear what they want. If Roe vs Wade gets overturned, it will not end abortion. It would leave it up to the states. how is that bad? If the majority of people in a state want it one way, thats how they will vote and what they will get. I am pro-choice with some restrictions (i think an abortion up until birth should not be legal for example). If the majority of people in a state want abortion to be legal up until the moment of birth, they can have that. Abortion is NOT in the constitution at all. When someone says they are loosing their constitutional right, where in the constitution does it say anything about abortion. Not one single person will loose the right to an abortion. It will be legal in many states, many states will have restitrictions. Guess whart? You can travel and/or move to any state in our country you want! Move to a state that is more in line with your beliefs. It really is that simple.
I mean that was literally the argument for overturning RvW, 'it isn't a law and SC shouldn't be setting law-like precedents so fuck RvW, get the senate to do their job'. Ironically i don't disagree with that assessment but I vehemently disagree with the way it's being done, because it's throwing the US citizenry to the wolves while we spend like 30 fucking years fighting in congress to get these things actually addressed.I think you’re underestimating SCOTUS. If the senate passed a law to protect abortion rights it’s entirely possible SCOTUS would strike it down saying it intrudes on state sovereignty or whatever.
This is why we should expand the court. It’s time to reign in a lawless branch of government.
‘Explain how republicans won’t control everything in this fantasy scenario I created where republicans control everything’. Lol.Then please explain to me how when one party controls that much and holds that much power over everyone's lives, how that can be overcome.
And please don't say "by voting" because that too, soon, will be useless.
Should we just balkanize?
