I'm sure many in media will though. Just look at the fact checks that claimed he walked back statements or failed to do X.

They've been laundering his ramblings into stuff he really didn't say for going on 8 years now. I don't expect it to stop. That doesn't mean that the bloc of voters he needs to convince again will automatically give him the benefit of the doubt, their trust in him is low via experience.

Yeah the big problem with his idea is that nobody actually believes him at this point, even if he was genuine (he is not).
I think the fact that everyone knows he's a huge liar helps him in some ways. When he says something insane the default assumption is that he's lying so they don't take his insane ramblings seriously.

Double edged at best probably. It is a reason his base support doesn't evaporate into nothing but also makes it harder to convince fence sitters he's not bullshitting.

The bigger long-term issue is the media is destroying it's credibility.

The two big problems are:
1) The right has relentlessly worked the refs for so long that they are afraid to report the news accurately as that will be considered biased.
2) It is genuinely in their financial interests to get Trump re-elected.

So I mean I get it - doing the job correctly involves both withering criticism and less money so basically you're banking on people having such strong ethical convictions that they're willing to endure that, and most people don't.

They have multiple incentives not to cover Trump like a normal political candidate and it's certainly shown through in how things get reported. I don't want to hear them complaining about how we view this fact because many of them have simply refused to do their actual jobs for these reasons.

This is how the GOP runs it. Trump just runs interference, dominates the news cycle, and all the bad shit the GOP does gets drowned in the trump headlines

Yeah, it seems nowadays if you bury the reporter in bullshit, they can report the story and call out the lies. It seems they don't do both. At this point, the bullshit has become so relentless and suffocating that reporters cannot be parsed to deal with it directly. It seems to be an effective strategy: overwhelm them until the just start letting it slide. Which is unfortunate, because the story should be "What the ever-loving fuck is this?!" rather than a "thing" or "things" happened.

I see little evidence they are overwhelmed, they just choose to cover Trump using different rules.

Rick Scott says that every single Democrat has voted to legalize crushing the skulls of infants and/or letting them starve to death in a corner.

Why isn't this fucking ghoul in jail! This POS is one of the biggest Medicare fraudsters in history. Have to be a real sicko to dream up that bullshit diatribe.
I still can’t believe they let Bat Boy stay on the loose, much less become a senator.

Hopefully, enough people can't stand him so bad, the Democrat (woman) wins, and it also drags down Trump with the trifecta abortion vote. Please keep it up, and keep FL in play for the Dems.

You're right. That's some nazi level dialogue based on some sick, twisted fantasy he's got bouncing around in his skull.
Remember that with the repugs, every accusation is a confession.
Another POS that needs to be out of politics.

Anti-abortion activists, running to their favorite Missouri Republican judge, have now managed to get abortion access amendment thrown off the ballot - arguing that "right to make decisions about reproductive health care, including abortion and birth control" was both not a specific enough to be a "single issue" as required under Missouri law, and also that the amendment failed to list the laws that would be repealed by it. No petition has ever previously been rejected for either of these reasons in Missouri history.

And the same court has ruled in several precedents that partisan lawsuits attempting to block a petition are highly disfavored - which this judge completely ignored as precedent in his ruling. This is at least the 3rd lawsuit trying to block the petition from the ballot, the others previously failed.

While proponents argued that the amendment will not actually fully repeal any existing laws, but instead those laws would only apply after fetal viability under the amendment, and is focused on the single issue of reproductive freedom.

While another judge just the day before threw out the Republican AG misleading description of this same amendment, raised in a different (Democratic) jurisdiction.

Ron DeFuhrer says; Geoge Soros is behind Amendment 4 and how DARE these filthy commoners be allowed to vote on abortion?!

This asshole is using state and taxpayer money to run ads attack ads against Amendment 4 down here also😡.
He's breaking the law and intimidating people who voted on the petition.

Well, here's Mark "Don't-do-as-I-do. do-as-i-say" Robinson.
Remember, he's against abortion yet he and his wife had one.

Now he's telling women to:
"Mark Robinson Waves Hand By Groin, Says Young Women Must 'Get This Under Control'"

You citizens of NC got to make sure this asshole does not get elected

He's against sex education.
"Robinson then dismissed the idea of educating young women about sex and birth control.
“All this giving out of birth control and advising people how,” he said. “Here’s how you don’t have a baby: You don’t have what you do to make a baby until you’re ready to have that baby.”"
