Last night I watched Robocop for the 5th time, first time in 10 years. It still satisfies. My 2001 MGM release of this 1987 flick is the cut theatrical release that Verhoeven finally got the ratings board to give an R rating. I just bought the uncut 2014 MGM Blu ray because I want to see the uncut version.

My question: Who was the chick with the really-big black glasses frames? She had black hair, was one of the crew in the police station, probably a co-worker of Morton, the OCP guy whose project was Robocop. Morton kisses her at one point, she kisses Robocop as he's first becoming conscious. What was her name in the movie, who played her?

I was 7 when I seen Robocop and thought it sucked. I'm now 36 and it still sucks. Only cop movie I thoroughly enjoyed back then and the video game was Lethal Weapon.

Best line ever. NSFW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwC_IaY3BmY
Lethal Weapon was a dang good movie. The first sequel also excellent. However, Robocop, 30 years later is still ass kickin' awesome. Avoid Robocop 2.

Yeah it IS Sage Parker. She was Tyler.

I always wished Arnold would have answered "men" instead of "women". That would have been amusing.

Computer: "And how do you like your men?"

Arnold: "Smaller than me."

Arnold who?
I guess I misremembered. I thought Arnold was the star. Haven't seen it since it was released and only saw it once. I still remember many scenes from it clearly, though. "Get ready for a surprise!"

Before Peter Weller was cast, Rutger Hauer and Arnold Schwarzenegger were favored to play RoboCop by Verhoeven and the producers, respectively.
Wiki says Arnold was too big for the suit. Haha.

Edit: LOL. I got the film confused with Total Recall.

That explains it.

I remember RoboCop fairly well, though, in bits and pieces. I was a kid when these came out and saw them around the same time.

Sequels are almost always trash. It's very rare to find a sequel that equals or betters the original. Remakes are nearly always bad, too.

Terminator 2? Inferior. Crying Terminator, annoying kid, Sarah doesn't shoot the scientist scene, corny new Terminator... Everything after that? Trash.
Aliens? OK, if recycled. Newt was hard to believe but interesting. Ripley being willing to go back is ridiculous. Everything after that? Trash.

Unusual exceptions: sequels to Star Trek 1 (obviously not V or JJ) and Star Wars "IV" (pre-prequel)

Worst remake? The Stepford Wives. The original was almost B movie quality but Hollywood figured out how to dumb it down even more.

I bet you raged when they added sound to moving pictures and nearly pulled your pacemaker out when they went color.

What the fuck are you on about? Terminator 2 and Aliens were both superior to their predecessors.

Realized this earlier but from this thread, I realized that "Sage" wasn't just a porn name.

No, Alien is VASTLY better than Aliens.
I consider this one to be highly debatable. Someone who prefers the original Alien is invariably a true film enthusiast. I prefer the original Alien, but it's a completely different kind of movie. I can certainly see why the majority of people would prefer the sequel, Aliens. You could argue that the sequel's formula having greater mass appeal means it's better...at many things.

The Terminator vs Terminator 2: Judgement Day isn't so controversial. Again, they are not the same kind of movie. The first movie was pretty damn good when you consider the smaller budget. It exceeded expectations for sure. While big budgets don't always make for great films, the second one far exceeded anyone's expectations and is one of the greatest action films of all time.
