I'm not exactly sure about ATi, but I know of companies that offer RMA for a good length of time (3-5 years) but thats from the date it was manufactured not the date you bought it. It's something to think about, but at the same time, it's more than likely the card isn't even 1-2 years old yet, and by the time it hits 3, it'll be a $40 vid card, probably not even worth waiting for an RMA.

But I'll recommend one thing; track your shipping on it, and as soon as you see they received your shipment, call their customer support and ask your RMA be expedited. You'll likely shave your return time in half by doing so.

If its still under warranty I think you should recieve a 9800NP. If you're extremely lucky you'll get a 9800 Pro with an R360 core;)

Wow, are you going to get flamed for saying that. Why don't you just *use* the 9700 Pro, it is a pretty good card, especially for that price... breaking the card on purpose no doubt voids the warranty in a way that is very, very, wrong. Much more wrong than voiding it by upgrading the cooler or something, IMHO...

You might get a re-furb 9700 back or a 9800np if you are not the origional buyer. What is the PN?

...or they'll just send you the same card back since there was nothing wrong with it.

Yeah lava, Rollo would give him a long lecture, and blinkme323, who told you you can send ati a working card and they'll just send you a better one? You think they stay in business dealing with people like you?

In 26 hours and 9 mins you went from not owning the card and concerned about the cards longetivity already planning on rmaing to not being able to overclock anymore, sometimes having to underclock with multiple other problems. Seeing that you just bought the card from somebody, return it to him! Does everything you own age so fast? Id hate to see your underwear.

If theres something wrong with then go ahead and RMA it. But it's not like ATI will send you a brand new one either. :p

If you are so concerned about doing the RMA call Ati and get an RMA Authorization #. For someone who knows so little about RMA educate yourself by contacting the people you are trying to scam!
