1) Personally, I don't believe you have the card yet. If you do have the card, and there is nothing wrong with it, suck it up buttercup, you're not getting an RMA for no reason. They'll just send you the same card back.

2) If you did overclock it
and it doesn't overclock anymore (sometimes I have to underclock it)
like you claim, then the warrenty is VOID. You should not RMA it, and they should not honnor it.

3)If you do RMA it anyway, be happy with the knowlege that you're trying to rip the company off, and help screw over every other customer that has a valid RMA.

Ok after a lil detective work I really am skeptical with this guys intent. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=45&threadid=1542791&enterthread=y

If you search his name I came up with a ton of other times he was trying to push this CRIPPLED card on other people.

Blink, I'll give you the benefit of doubt that you have multiple 9700 pros or something PROVE me wrong that your not a crook.

The only reason that I'm heated on the topic is because I would hate to be on the recieving end of a deal with you!

Go to ATI's web site. :p

they have very DETAILED instructions for a RMA ;)

you pay for shipping and insurance to ATI . . . .

You may want to pull your fs/ft offer, given that not having the card in your possession is against the forum rules. Given that you seem to have no qualms scamming the company, it will be hard for people to believe you won't scam them just as quickly.

And people got on ME for my 6800GT problem. I'm gonna give you the same lecture that Rollo gave to me during my fiasco.

1.) No matter WHAT you think, you ARE trying to rip ATI off, and while I'm not too fond of ATI, that is still VERY low, and even though I dislike ATI, I still wouldn't even stoop to that level.

2.) Even if you DO RMA the card, you will likely NOT receive a 9800 (of any kind). I would personally bet that you will get a 9700P back.

Also, you state the following:

Well I think the card is starting to go. It makes the screen flicker sometimes, it gets REALLY hot, the fan starts to go sporadic sometimes, in some games I see artifacts, and it doesn't overclock anymore (sometimes I have to underclock it) so I think it might be staring to go. My warranty is almost up, so I don't want to be stuck with a broken card. Is there anything wrong with that.

Then, you state this after my bud pointed out something fishy with your statement:

Ok BobDaMOnkey got it right. I don't have the card yet and there is probably nothing wrong with it. My friend rma'ed a 9500pro and got a 9800 pro in return so I wanted to do it. I said there were some problems to avoid getting flamed. I have decided not to rma it though becuase it is unethical.

DOOD, you f*cked up here. What, did you think that wouldn't be noticed? How do you know if the card doesn't overclock well if you don't have it? That's weak dude.

Oh, and BTW, I sent good ol' Rollo a PM with a link to this thread. Lets see what he has to say, shall we?

Oh, yeah. Editing your posts out to save your ass, 'cause you really know you F*CKED UP, is really gonna help your case. At least I had the dignity to let others see what I had previously said. What, you scared of Rollo? :disgust:. Pansy :| . You don't deserve to stay on these forums, and I hope you leave, and never come back.

I almost sent Rollo a pm too, but I figured Id rather see how deep of a hole this kid would dig first. Do a search on blink323, He was trying to trade this card multiple times without owning it, amongst other b.s.

Yeah, I did, and I mentioned that in the PM to Rollo. Boy, I truthfully hope this kid knows what he got himself into. If he doesn't know, he's in for a surprise.

BTW, I also sent Gamingphreek a PM, with similar information as I sent to Rollo. This may get good :p

He tried to trade a geforce 4 ti4200 to someone saying it overclocked to ti4600/ti4400 speeds, and then provided a link to his ebay auction were he said he never overclocked it.

ya I saw that too, funny thing is like a month ago he triedd to trade me a quadro 4 for a 9800 pro, He was saying that the quadro was very similar to a geforce 4200. I bet you that was the card he was refering to.

lavaheadache The card is actually waiting to go into my other computer once i get a few more parts. Nice try though! You might have good luck selling it or trading it in the f/s f/t section. Ive dealt with some of those guys before and they are great. 02/23/2005 02:42 PM

Blinkme323 I saw your post where you flashed your 9800 because you said you don't really use it anymore. My little brother could really use that card. He bought a used CAD machine for gaming with mostly his money and a little bit of mine. It is actually pretty nice for what we paid, but it comes with a Quadro 4 which is meant for design and dual monitors, not gaming. It performs on par with a Gerforce 4 TI I would say. If you aren't using your old 9800 much anymore, could you trade it to us for the Quadro. It is a nice second card to have. Its exact name is Quadro 4 NVS 200 which retails for like $175-220. I can also throw in some stuff of mine if you want too. I have some old games; Warcraft 3, Splinter Cell, Risk, 007. I have a Geforce 2 MX200 and a Actiontec Call Waiting modem too. We would really appreciate it if you did the trade, thanks!

that is a copy and paste of my pms with him

Yeah, I saw that. What a load of crap that was. This guy becomes more and more unbelievable as he goes. What's more, he edited out all of his own posts. Idiot.

I am sorry guys. I bought a 9700 pro that worked fine off of these of forums and my friend advised me to rma it for a better card. After reading the replies I decided it was unethical and didn't do it. To answer some of other questions, the Quadro IS a pretty valuable card for a CAD designer and I sold it for $105. I never did overclock the TI4200, I let coolbits detect the optimal frenquencies. The 9700 works fine so there is nothing wrong with trying to trade it on these forums right. I said it had some problems so I wouldn't get flamed. That was very foolish of me and I am sorry. The card will NOT be RMA'ed.

While i cant speak for Rollo, i dont think either him or I want to be known as trying to play mod or anything. Dont get me wrong i strongly disagree with this but i dont want people to think "crusader" or anything.

As for the post, this is definitely fishy. OP not only have you edited out all of your posts which you claim are true but you post a WTT in the FS/FT forums for that same card. I cant really follow what is going on:
1. You say you want to send a card in because your warranty is almost up.
2. Then you say that you just want to lie and send it back so you have the prospect of getting a 9800Pro.
3. Then you say that you have to UC it because it frequently overheats and the fan is dying.
4. On top of all that you are now trying to sell it on our forums!!

While we are not mods, if you do not come out and tell us all what is really happening it might be time to get the mods involved; not only because you are possibly lying here but more so because you are trolling (stealing) in the FS/FT forums.

-Kevin

Edit: I agree Rollo, the upgrade from a 9700Pro to a 9800Pro is not and should never be worth your dignity. Im not sure, does anyone think the mods should get involved in this, or should we leave it as is.

That says it pretty well Gamingphreek.

The only thing I'd add to the OP is that selling your self respect and dignity for the difference between a 9700Pro and a 9800Pro is a bad deal.

ROFL!!

Yeah, its not like there's THAT much of a difference between a 9700P and a 9800P. On top of that, its not like we, at AT, are the only ones that think you're doing something fishy. I read the thread at HardForum, and they are suspicious as well. This makes it even MORE likely that you are trying to pull a fast one.

Also, saying:

This seems like a load of crap, as, OOH!, you're appologizing! Thats gonna make everything better. Lying so you wouldn't get flamed, well, that's just a load of crap, especially since your original posts are contradictive to this. How do we know you won't just try to sell the card in a couple of months after we "forgot" about this whole deal? We don't. How do we know you won't just RMA the card anyways? We don't. That's my point. You're too unbelievable. And to think, you're a Senior Member! This makes me disgusted to think that I am as well :| .

thats why i say just ban 'em. hell he needs to read the replies to see how unethical all this is? please....
edits out every one of his posts and then tries to sell over at hard.

and ya, kevin, i'm not a rat bastard but i think the mods should be let know of this. maybe a buyer down the road won't remind him what morals and ethics are.

edit-and i guess i am a rat bastard, mods notified
