Thanks, Mike and Jello.

Bummer that it wasn't something simple.

I can't think of anything else offhand that would cause these problems :(

I heard that! *shrug*

Vann's was very cool about it though. Straight up exchange and they emailed me a return shipping label.

BTW... you received a compliment on your GHTAT from somebody on AVS. I linked it.

I read through the thread, but maybe I missed it; is there any output from the receiver to the sub during the Audessy calibration or by manually running a level calibration on the sub?

heh, I kind of wondered if anybody over at AVS would think it was decent.

I hardly go over there at all anymore and only made a couple of posts ever.

Op, I own the 705 and had the exact same problem you did. Turned out I was using the SUB-IN jack instead of the SUB PREOUT jack.

Picture

I had used the first SUBWOOFER jack I saw without looking at the bigger picture.

Make sure you are using the preout jack and not the input jack.

Hope this helps.

I thought that might have been his problem, but you can see in picture #2 that it's hooked up to the correct one.

Just got mine a week ago and had none of your problems. Good luck with the new one.

What's your setup?

Slowly upgrading from a Kenwood 5.1 HTIB setup. I passed the receiver down to my brother. I still have the speakers while I wait on a delivery. For reference, here is the setup: http://www.hometheatermag.com/...erinabox/38/index.html

I am expecting a shipment on Monday with Infinity Beta 50 (x2) for the front and Infinity C360 for the center. I have not done research for the upgrade to the sub but I do not expect to need one until I move to a new home one day. Those Betas should put out plenty of bass for what I need for now. I am probably going to try using the fronts from the Kenwood HTIB as surrounds and see how they handle it.

I wish I could help. Is vann's a refurb/shady outlet?

I know you guys hate me in this forum but it really sounds like a setup problem. Either on the sub or on the receiver.

Yeah, I just can't see this as being a problem with the receiver at this point. It would be too bizarre for 2 receivers to have the same exact problem.

Vann's is topnotch. I'll take the sub apart this weekend. It has to be the problem. Has to be...

I'm not having fun.

You've already verified the sub is good. Taking it apart isn't going to help.

Feed it the output from your receiver from a right/left pre-amp output. If the cone moves your sub is fine (put your fingers on the cone). Seriously, this sounds like a setup problem.

I can't see the sub being the problem, Ron. I never had the chance to use it with the 705 but it always worked fine with the Yamaha. You've had it running with another receiver as well.

I'm assuming you have the sub cable connected to the proper (LFE) connector on the sub?

Hey Mike...
How's things, buddy?

I only had the sub running on the +/- connections before I bought the 805. My old HTIB AVR didn't have an LFE jack. I couldn't find a spare cable to test the KSW10's LFE before I did the RMA. I'm hoping there's a loose wire on the inside of the sub. *crosses fingers*

Ahh so you were hooked up via +/- before and now you are using the RCA sub input? That could be your problem... is there a setting on the sub that switches between them?
